One of the most unbiased reviews out there. Perfectly balanced. Respect!

Hi Mitch,
I recently switched from Canon to Sony, as it fits my needs for YouTube and photography best! I really enjoyed the vibe and style of your videos... there is calm to it and they are easy to understand, your speech is very chill and enjoyable.
Looking forward to more videos from you.
Thank you for this one ☺️

Great video. Lovely images. Put your a7iii into flexible spot or expanded flexible spot. You can move the spot around. When eye and face fail it will revert to the spot.

Every button on the a73 is programmable. I don't even have to go into the menu at all.

Having both systems, I have to say the eye AF is wayyyy better on Sony than XT3. Can't wait to test XT4

I just love the Fuji colors...no need to change. Thanks

use AF/C for Eye-AF - you don't need to use AF/S anymore for portraits

I too have the Fuji XT1, XT3 and the A7iii the main image QA difference is at low light. ... also the Sony can use the lovely Canon lenses which are better priced on the 2nd hand market... and work in full auto mode with a converter. You can get a 50mm f1.8 for $90 the equivalent Fuji will be 2x or 3x that ... as for user ability the Fuji has the edge ... all the commands are on your finger tips.. think Fuji needs to rethink bringing out a Full frame as the current APS-C chip has reached its limits, Or Sony bring out the next Gen a7 with more dials on it. So i use my Fuji with vintage glass and the Sony with Native or Canon Lenses. Good pics Nice model and review. Cheers

I would like to have both. Hey man, about the eye AF when fails in Sony will swicht for the kind of focus you choosed: Wide, Area, Central (as Fuji do), spot, etc. So you have total control, and I keep one button for eye AF to override any selection of focus area.

I've contemplated switching to Fuji from the A7III for the 4k60 and colors but I think I'm going to stick with full frame. Did you notice a big difference in colors or do some people just exaggerate how different Sony colors are?

Would you switch to a Sony A7III today? You can get really good deals on ebay and they are quite inexpensive. I'm torn. I don't know whether to get the A7III or X-T4. I've only owned two digital cameras, the X100 and for the last 7 years the X100S. A part of me is thinking to just upgrade to the X100V and keep it simple. Problem is that I want to use the X100V for portrait work and the lens is too wide.

Such a good video! So many beautiful pictures that you captured of her, not because of the camera you’re using but the composition, perfect moments of emotion and collaborative art to show beauty 😍

First good video glad you are taking a look at Sony. I will preface my comments by saying that I’ve shoot exclusively on Fuji for the last few years even up to the XT3. I’ve owned most of the primes and zooms. I love Fuji and the jpegs are really special. I will always have something from them to shoot with. That said, I have recently moved over the the a7iii. For me, it really wasn’t about any else but getting better low light performance which simply because FF has a bigger sensor it’s just engineering. I think if Fuji did FF than everyone would jump from crop lol. What I’ve also found is that the menu does suck, but they give you so many ways to customize and program the buttons that once you do that it’s actually better than the XT3. Also, you need to optimize the focus mode. Once you do that, my hit rate was far greater with eye af (which is far superior to Fuji) than with Fuji. Lastly, the whole color science thing is just stupid. If you post process in raw this a non issue. Actually, like you said, a better dynamic range with Sony files. The end of the day, both cameras punch way beyond their price point. There is no perfect camera. For the money, they are both really good. (I do think like anything else you need to spend more time with the system).

I really appreciate the fact of you making this as unbiased and as fair as possible, especially considering the fact that you are fuji user. Great content!

The Sony mirrorless system is very different in terms of focus options and preferences. To get the most from it AF-c is recomended in wide AF mode. It allows for real time AF at crazy speeds. AF-s is slower in comparison. You can still change the focus points for single if you want to adjust back to a single point if the camera doesn't detect an eye or face. All the options can be found under the FN button. Agree on the menu side that sony is difficult to find things quickly (sometimes too many options is a bad thing), but since the introduction of a custom menu, finding the settings you mostly use become much faster. With colours for sony cameras however straight out of camera with raws, , capture one does a better job, with less green/yellow in the skin tones compared to LR. More down to raw decoding differences between softwares.
