Another thing is don’t be afraid to follow a block by block tutorial for some builds, concepts learned in those builds can be applied to general building.

Creativity is the biggest thing. Creativity coming from you is what will make the build great.

As a professional builder who has built for many servers, I would recommend following tutorials and taking inspiration from certain builds or even copying them (but giving credit), to the point where you form your own style. You cannot build well if you have not seen a good build before.

Ngl ive improved my building skills so much during the last 2 years, here are my tips:
1. Experiment. Go beyond your comfort zone. You wont change if you keep doing everything the same.
2. Watch some pros. 75% of my progres comes from watching pros (fwhip, smalishbeans, mogswamp etc), analazing their builds and implementing parts of them (palettes, shapes, tricks) into my own projects. It might seem like copying but honestly, its a long way becoming a pro builder, so its easier to just follow a path someone else has set and when you are finally close you can try to develop your own style.
3. Trust the proces. Really. A build might seem ugly or boring but its probably just lack of texturing, decorations, details and almost never a problem with the build itself.
4. Dont compare yourself to pros. You will lose motivation and hope. But these guy have years of practise. Instead you should compare your builds to your older builds.
5. Practise. You wont become a builder doing nothing.
