I had a little bit of trouble with this game. The first problem was that the kids wanted some sort of resolution or object to the game. I decided to install a rule that all players have two lives. The first time they get tagged they become the skunk. After they tag someone else and become a regular player again the next time they get tagged they are out of the game until we have two remaining regular players. They, in turn, become the next skunks and a new round begins.

I then ran into another hiccup. The gym was loud (as normal) and therefore the "regular players" couldn't hear the "new skunk" yell out that they were the new skunk. We ended up with 4 skunks at one point (it was pretty funny actually)!
A variation I used because of this was that the skunks were permanent for the round and if a regular player was tagged they were out.
