Idk if the 12” version has the allen key slot exposed or you inserted the wrench at an angle but normally you have to undo the one screw that’s holding the blade guard.

There is a another ring washer on mine, I have the same saw I just bought

Maybe mention that it needs to be loosened in the opposite direction

Make sure you have flange washers on both sides of the blade
