for wood specifically, should we install the blade backwards facing? I see that japanese saws have their teeth pointing backwards

IT'S NOT THE NORMAL SIZE SAWS THAT'S THE PROBLEM, BECAUSE AS YOU HAVE CLEARLY SHOWN.THE TENSION CAN BE LOOSEND AND TIGHTENED.
IT'S THOSE LITTLE BUGGER'SWITH NO ADJUSTMENT ON THEM. I JUST BOUGHT ONE, AND DISCOVERED THE BLADE IS UPSIDE DOWN, AND I CAN'T GET IT OUT.

I think the most important thing is to ensure the blade is correctly oriented. I am definitely NOT speaking from experience.
