Everything you NEED to know about the NEW iPhone SE (2nd Generation) in 6 minutes
Показать описание
So Apple just announced a new iPhone today. The iPhone SE. More accurately, it’s the iPhone 8 2.0.
The iPhone SE is basically an updated iPhone 8. BUT unlike other companies that shortchange you with their budget devices, Apple’s included two technologies from my perspective that will future proof the iPhone SE for the next 3-4 years.
At MREH, Monty and I base all our reviews on actual usage. We’re reviewers not influencers and all we’re doing is trying to figure out what the best products are so that none of us waste our money.
The new iPhone SE or the iPhone 8 2.0, starts at $399 dollars for the 64GB version, $449 for the 128 GB version and $549 for the 256GB version.
Historically, this puts it on the same scale as the iPhone SE that came back in 2016.
Now out of the current crop of iPhone’s, the iPhone SE is by far the cheapest with the next iPhone being the iPhone 11 that costs $300 dollars more.
With the introduction of the 2020 iPhone SE, Apple now has a true, budget iPhone. When the iPhone XR and 11 were being released, they called a budget friendly phone when in reality, that device cost just as much as a normal iPhone before the introduction of iPhone’s with OLED’s.
Marketing fluff right?
So that’s the price. What about the supposed Specs?
The new iPhone SE is basically the same size as the iPhone 8. So if you think Apple’s latest phones are way too big, well, you get a bit of a reprieve with the iPhone SE.
In fact, the screen is apparently the same minus the 3D Touch which Apple phased on in the last few years. The only other difference between the iPhone SE and the Pro iphones is the OLED screen which allows the iPhone 11 Pro’s to do HDR playback.
The iPhone SE is going to be rated to iP67 which means you can leave it in your tub for 30 mins if you really wanted to. As a side note, that’s a silly thing to do.
The new iPhone SE comes with an A13 Bionic chip which is the same chip as the new iPHones which is impressive.
What’s even more impressive is that this A13 chip is needed to power the same camera as the iPhone 8.
No, the extra power is needed to take Portrait photos. You know the mildly used feature that allows you take a photo with a ton of bokeh. That’s right, with the iPhone SE, you too can take Instagram quality photos!
When it comes to video recording, the only thing that the iPhone SE is missing when compared to the iPhone 11’s is Audio Zoom. So if you’re decision making paradigm is based on getting better audio for your home cooking series, don’t get the iPhone SE.
With the FaceTime Camera, again, its basically the iPHone 8 camera plus blurry background photo mode. This is probably the biggest difference between the iPhone SE and the iPhone 11’s as the TrueDepth laser cameras on the iPHone 11’s allow you to record better video and turn your head into a turd.
When it comes to connections, the iPhone SE has BT 5.0 which is great as well as WiFI 6. Now this tech isn’t being widely used now BUT this is going to future proof your iPhone SE for the next 2-3 years.
Which is probably how long Apple’s going to keep selling this phone.
Because it’s based on the iPhone 8, the iPHone SE will still require you to use your fingers and Touch ID. I haven’t used Touch ID on a iPHone in years and honestly, when you go Face ID, you’ll never want to go back to Touch ID.
The battery will last as long as the iPhone 8 and most importantly, the iPHone SE will support ultra fast 7.5w wireless charging. Qi-charging is such a useless feature. The iPhone SE will support fast charging as well BUT you only get the dinky 5W charger and not the super awesome 18W charger you’d find on the Pro’s.
With all thing considered, the iPhone SE is going to be a steal of deal from my perspective. It’s at a great price point and all the differences I’ve listed out, the only thing missing are the fringe features that Apple includes in their yearly iPhone upgrades to ensure that the product stays relevant.
Honestly, if you’re looking get an iPhone because you have an iPhone now and don’t want to drop a ton of cash on a new device, get the iPhone SE. It’s a smart buy because it has the capability to be used with some of the newer wireless connections such as BT5.0 and WiFI 6. Both of these technologies are going to become more prevalent in the next few years so you’re basically futureproofing your iPhone experience.
If all you do is consume media and talk to friends and family, the iPhone SE is going to be all you need.
