Apparently Johnny Wilkinson used to do a lot of training kicking a American football because the sweet spot is so much smaller and so much harder to kick so helped with his rugby kicking

Dan the Man. He's every Kiwi dude. He kept it real the whole way, the genuine article.

Loved his rugby, his mates, getting on the beersies every weekend, family and helping people where and when he could.

That was all of us. Im one year older than him and that was me a my mates.

Except Dan the Man led a normal Kiwi Bloke life while also being the best first five in the world, carving up for the ABs.

Those were the best of times.

Its mainly about having the big leg. A class rugby kicker would have value in American football only for extra points (now that its been moved back slightly) and pressure kicks inside 50yards.

An entire skill would be redundant as the kicks are basically in front, nothing from the sideline.

The guys that do it well have huge kicks on them. They usually handle kick offs - where theyre usually going for a touch back, basically kicking it dead.. which is a big kick.

Thats all before you get into the fact that its a team play just to kick at goal. Snap, hold and protection from opposition charging the kick - that all has to go well - and your timing has to be perfect.

Waaaay harder than some rugby folk may think.

Some guys would suit it. Francios Steyn (i think thats the name) springs to mind.

I think the famous Naas Botha from my home country South Africa, kicked for the Dallas Cowboys, could not kick that ball iether

The funny thing is if Dan did play NFL he would make more money in a month than he made in his life

American football is much easier to kick but hard for a rugby player to adapt to. Less power required, you just need to flick the leg. I can kick it 60m easy
