The problem in my case is the 5 minutes reward doesn't work. Let's say for example I watch a youtube video in this 5 minutes. I notice the 5 minutes turns into a 30 min. Even if I manage to only take a 5 min break, it is difficult to gather my attention and start working again. ADHD sucks.

My problem with planning is that I make perfect reasonable plannings, but I always have so much brain fog that even though, when I manage to get into hyperfocus I can get something done in 10-20 minutes, 1, 30h is just enough for me in that state which is very discouraging because I can never really live to my planning that way. Also I get completely distracted again during the 5min break because it gets me out of ''the zone'' that I desperately tried building up for the last 1-2 hours. How do you manage those internal distractions? Every help fascility I've been to just taught me how to plan things but my problem is that I always fail to actually live those plannings despite them being completely reasonable

what do you do when you plan for rewards but then you can't stay focused because all you can think about is the reward >_< the struggle is real.

Do you have any advice on how to do stuff when let's say you have to clean a room but then your brain keeps breaking the general task into smaller tasks and you can't manage to pick one of those task attached to the general and you get beyond overwhelmed? 😰

I feel like its more a task initiation issue than a task time duration, if we struggle to start a task per se, splitting the task even in more steps then we end up with more times where we have to start the task.

I’m frustrated by the fact I can’t make myself do anything before 3 or 4 pm on the weekend. Literally can’t make my feet move

Tik Tok brought me here. After watching a video there, I have self-diagnosed myself with ADHD. Soo I’m here to learn how to function better. Many many years ago, I used a planner to break my tasks into time chunks like you mentioned. I GOT SOOOO MUCH ACCOMPLISHED and was so proud of myself. (I’m also realizing that those times when I get sad or depressed is because I get overwhelmed, get nothing accomplished, and become disappointed in myself). So I can concur with your tip to break your day into smaller time chunks - it works! BUT! If you have ADHD, it’s hard to make yourself schedule the next day - so remember to schedule that as one of the tasks on your schedule. I like bullet journaling or scheduling because my mind likes lists. Thanks again! ❤️

My gosh, doing all this is exhausting

The fact that you are able to block time [apply pomodoro tech/ pareto law], follow a schedule, initiate tasks without any grave struggle whatsoever, don't seem to encounter much difficulty following through tbh made this whole 6m podcast another useless typical productivity video for neurotypicals. I have adhd + dyslexia (comorbidity) just like you, I could not relate to any of this. Good for you, you seem to surpassed or managed your cognitive crisis. But for an average adhd person, this video is frustrating, triggering and pretty useless. No hate though. Great you tried.
