This is an update of my grafting 4 types of pear and an apple onto flowering pear (Cleveland Pear). Long story short, we have pears and good sized ones at that! There is an issue with bark slipping off on the tree and I show you how I deal with that.

I just found out I have 6 huge ornament flowering pear trees in my yard. For years I didn't know what they were. I just started grafting this month with 2 different types of pear scions. Will see how they do in the summer. You think apple scions will graft ok??

I say try some inarch grafts to help the pear with damaged bark

I'd guess the bark on the one pear dried out. need to paint the trunk white when you cut the top out like that

wouldn't it be better to graft some on the higher branches so they will have more growth quickly and be able to support more pears?
