We've made it to Ulan-Ude, a major stop on our month-long Trans-Siberian adventure. This unique Russian city is home to the Buryat people, who resemble Asians because their ancestors date back to Mongolian roots. Join us as we explore Russia’s Buddhist hub, a place rarely seen in the media, and show you their unique culture, traditions, and delicious food.

I’m a Tibetan watching your channel from NYC. The countries that I would love to visit are Mongolia and The Buryatia and Kalmykia republics of Russia. It’s just beautiful to see how strong their faith is in Buddhism.

I am so impressed how much she knows about Russ Mongol traditions. As a Mongolian I feel proud of that. Lovely couple by the way. Love kvas used to drink it lot in Mongolia when I was a kid. Really quench that thirst. 😍

Hi, thanks for visiting our republic and making this cool video. Btw, we are mongolians, but differ from them a little bit, we still can understand them and share similar traditions, that’s why we have similar costumes and other stuff. Btw name buuzi of the dish that you tried is probably transformed version of baozi.

Half way through I'm breaking to just say Good Job Youngsters! I am quite enjoying the video. I've spent a little time in Russia's wild wild east, mostly in the Saka Republic. Good work!

The kvass barrels have been metal since Soviet times, but the company selling kvass decided to decorate them and covered them with wood to give them an authentic look, it doesn't look very good and winemakers will immediately see that the barrel is not real)... and of course this is not the property of the woman seller, there is a large company bottling drinks and this is one of its areas. Every morning, the kvass barrels are delivered to different points. А woman - tram-driver does not announce stops (this was about 20 years ago - now stops are announced by a robot) - she says into the microphone that the tram is leaving the route and going to the depot. Behind the glass on the sign it says - at the depot. Yes, our city is not super modern, but I don’t suffer at all )))
