I'm on the side that loves this games story personally, its a more refined and broadly relevant version of MGS2s story albeit not explained as well which is why a lot of fans are quick to label it as unfinished.

i have over 110 hours in this game i love the gameplay but the one thing i hate about mgs5 is that the story is unfinished. it doesn't completely ruin the lore of metal gear but if konami never fired kojima we could've gotten and seen alot more events of the timeline of mgs but overrall this game is still a 10/10
