HOW TO UPDATE YOUR LOWRANCE - Step By Step

Veteran professional bass angler, John Crews, shows you a step by step process for updating. your Lowrance units. He uses a computer in this version. There are other ways to update them if you do not have a computer. John uses the computer and micro sd card version because it is the fastest and more convenient. He is updating his HDS LIVE 16 but all the HDS LIVE units update exactly the same as in this video. This is the Version 20 software update that came out in March of 2020. I've looked at a few "How to Update Lowrance" vids. I have a Hook2-5 TS that has an update. I use a MacBook Air computer. Last spring I got a micro SD card, put the update on it (I thought), put it in my Lowrance and nothing happened. So now I ordered a 16GB micro SD card. I'll format it to FAT32 and won't deal with zip or unzip. I'll put the software update on it and try it again in May. If it works I'll post what I did. Lowrance and the rest of the brands should make these things easier to update. Thanks for the video, I got some good tips from it.

I just brought my first bass boat from a dealer (used) I pick it up the 27th of January. It has two lowrance units on it. A 10 and 12 can I register the units in my name even though they’re used and probably already registered in previous owners name.

There's also a size limit on the card it will recognize. Has to be smaller than 32g i believe. Unless they updated it lately.
