In this breakout session, we will introduce attendees to the multimedia effort Cloud-Based Remote Sensing with Google Earth Engine: Fundamentals and Applications. This is the product of more than a year of volunteer effort from more than a hundred individuals, working in concert to provide coordinated open-access learning resources for learning how to use Earth Engine for the public good. As you’ll hear in the breakout session, the overall effort includes an open-access book, a vetted and dedicated code repository, a series of recorded presentations by chapter authors, teaching materials, and group-sourced translations.

The session will contain an overview of the effort, a presentation of the book’s content, and a practical component in which chapter authors lead you through their tutorial. If you have a laptop, you will be able to do the exercise along with the presenters, using links we provide. You’ll need an Earth Engine account, of course, but nothing more
