Fernando Alonso will never be matched

Fernando Alonso is 41 years of age and is still at the top of his game in Formula 1. With 2 world championships, it still doesn't paint a picture of how good he is. Fernando came from humble beginnings but quickly impressed the world during his karting and junior career, and quickly found himself in Formula 1. He won two consecutive championships with Renault and became the youngest double world champion ever. He has battled with the very best, like Michael Schumacher, Kimi Raikkonen, Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton. Fernando always found a way, and even though he didn't win a world championship with Ferrari, you still always felt like he was a chance. Enjoy.

It's a crime he's only won the world championship twice. He's without doubt one of the best drivers the worlds ever seen

2005 imola, defended against a 7x world champion
2021 hungaroring, defended against a 7x world champion
This man is still in his prime and he's so exciting to watch

the Aston Martin era is proving that we were right all along.

Give him a decent car and he will shine, he is still in his prime.

Fernando is living proof that success in F1 isn’t necessarily a reflection of a driver’s talent

You'll never find another Fernando Alonso across Motorsport, he's a driver that comes only once in a century 💙

Watching older F1 seasons, now I’m a 2012 Fernando Alonso addict.

Alonso’s my favorite driver, he just has this intensity about him and its obvious that he’s constantly trying to challenge the front of the pack in a mid level car and it’s just admirable.

the fact that he and kimi havent won more championships is a crime

EDIT: pretty sure people are misinterpreting what i said- im not saying one is better than the other, im saying they both deserved more WDCs than what they actually got

And the most amazing part of it all is how he just will not give up his passion and desire to win. You can tell the Aston Martin guys are extremely excited about him joining the team

In terms of raw speed and pace I think Fernando and Kimi will always be at the top for me. Especially Kimi in those Mclarens, he was scary fast

One 2023 race left and Fernando has showed the world what he is capable of with a car that is not complete trash, getting lots of podiums and points. He managed to defend the best car (red bull) for 13 laps at brazil, one of the easiest tracks to overtake. He is truly amazing and I hope he gets his 33rd wind and even a 3rd championship

I think part of the legend of Fernando and what makes him even more special is the fact that he only won two championships. He has earned his reputation not by winning "easy" championships with cars significant faster, but by having incredible consistent races making the most out of slower, unreliable, or mid pack cars, even if it was "just" finishing P7 or P8. And furthermore, the fact that he is going to turn 42 and he is still really fast. I don't know other driver that could do that in my lifetime watching Formula 1.

I covered Alonso's rise a few months ago. Found a few interesting things:
- Jean Todt had signed Alonso to be a Ferrari Junior, but Briatore came along and snatched him up
- It was the reason why Fernando would never drive for Ferrari as long as Todt was there
- Alonso tested for Jaguar in 2002 among other teams, and even had a comparison with Andre Lotterer, a future Le Mans winner.

I've been one who's said this for years. Alonso is THE man behind the wheel. He's earned my full respect as a passionate wheelman myself. As a Finn of course as a kid I cheered for Räikkönen but as I grew up I realized who Alonso really is; the greatest modern driver in his overall skills.

Watching this video after the 2023 season opener and farnando’s podium, it’s just another proof that alonso is never done, he is THAT guy. That podium brought me to tears i kid you not, it was one of the greatest moments I’ve witnessed live, this time he’s handed a competitive car and i have very high hopes that he’ll gove us one more phenomenal season in his glorious career.

Let's not forget his 170 MPH wheelie in Austin after colliding with Stroll then still finishing P7.

He’s seriously the most impressive driver I’ve ever watched. I can’t even comprehend how he continues to amaze us at 40+ years old

The thing about Fernando is how adaptable he is, whether it's in F1 or jumping to a different series entirely. its like he was born to race. Honestly, the guy would still win a championship today.

Of course he will never be matched. In my opinion, he is the best driver Motrosport has never seen.
He has been in his prime since 2005, he will be 42... what a legend. I dream of him coming back to a top3 team...

Love Fernando. One of my finest F1 memories is his overtake on Schumacher on the outside through 130R at Suzuka in -05. Was standing in my living room, early morning and screamed until I literally saw stars. 🤩 Have the same love for Montoya, even if his F1 career was way too short.
