“Mr. Hanson?” I’m afraid you’re too late, Billy.

Without a doubt the most scariest scene in the movie considering that it shows the aftermath of Mr. Hanson's death. Add to the fact that this scene shows the first Gremlin to be seen in the entire Gremlin franchise makes this scene even more iconic and unforgettable.

When I was first watching this movie as a kid I was legit surprised to hear Mr. Hanson died. I thought he was simply knocked out and used as something to lure Billy, I didn’t really understand the concept of death back then but if there’s one thing for sure it’s that it means they’re never gonna come back, you won’t see them again, they’re gone. It was the first movie I’ve seen with death and horror-like scenes

Gremlins would have easily been one of the scariest films of all time if every scene after this kept the same creepy tone. After the pool scene, Gremlins basically evolved into a dark horror comedy film. By the mid '80's, most horror films were horror lite and family friendly.

Keep in mind that Gremlins was one of two movies that necessitated the PG-13 rating. With scenes like this, it's easy to see why.

Gosh, I LOVE how dark and sinister this film can be in parts, today it's all frigging Mamamia and avatar, 2 SHITE films if you ask me. The 80's for me is somewhat a golden age in cinema! All the most iconic films were made in the 80's or shortly after and shortly before. Some 90's and early 00's films are also good, but todays films just don't have that magical touch anymore! Gremlins will always be one of my favourite comedies, because it's dark and somewhat disturbing. I grew up in the 90's and there were some awesome TV shows back then, I missed the 80's as I was born in 1989. You simply wouldn't get a kids film this dark in todays day and age. It's all pepa pig and Dr, Who, their stupid and feal good. When I watch a film, I want it to move me or make my spine tingle. If I was going to watch Dr. Who, it would be the 60's/70's Dr, Who, not the stupid and badly made new ones. TV today is too high tech and too feal good for my taste. I prefer older graphics, they just do it for me! AI, Gladiator, Enemy at the gates and MR. Brooks are also good films all accept Mr. Brooks are over 20 years old now. Mr. Brooks was surprisingly dark for a modern cinematic performance. Most films these days are all OTT and stupid feel good BORING films! I'm also one of those weirdos who route for the villains, the badder the better in my opinion!

It’s also a possibility that after Earl went out of the Nurse room or First aid room at 2:00 he was probably just roaming around by himself at that point. The moment Stripe created a whole bunch of gremlins, Earl was possibly with the rest of them.

Damn, they don't make movies like these anymore.

There's one other death in the movie which was a deleted scene. It was Billy's boss Mr. Corben. Kind of weird that they kept that scene out, but they kept in this scene in the final cut with Billy's old science teacher lying on the floor completely dead with a lethal injection stuck in his ass. I don't know which scene is darker.

I thought the gremlin stick the syringe needle in his eye instead but they said it was to graphic for the movie. The director changed the scene

It’s always creepy when you don’t know what it looks like yet, or how it killed and may have mutilated mr Hanson. Your imagination really runs through the worst scenarios. All you know is that it’s aggressive, violent, and runs fast. The fear of the unknown if you will

So wait were there 5 or 6 gremlins at first? This gremlin was number 1, the 3 Billy’s mom killed, the 1 in the Christmas tree, and Stripe who’s the leader which is number 6 which then created a whole bunch of gremlins

0:58 The gremlin says “treif” which is a Yiddish word for un kosher. Must have been Steven Spielberg’s suggestion.

Seriously ask yourself
WHY would a science teacher have access to these chemicals?

Does anybody else think it could also be likely that Hanson was just unconscious? The syringe he had (as far as I know, it's been a while since I watched this flick) was just a sedative. I know his hand got bitten while feeding the gremlin but it genuinely doesn't look gory enough for him to have been mauled to death.
