Crazy! Having the heart attack while sitting in the cardiologist's office is like having the car do "that thing" while at the mechanic

He’s lucky he had it right in front of his doctor, and not just any doctor, a Cardiologist.

Immediately starting precordial thump before even checking pulse (which I am sure he did very shortly after) is a testament to this doctors quick thinking. Doing this for ~30 or so seconds could prevent a full blown cardiac arrest.

Obviously don't try this and stick with your first aid training but hats off to this man, truly talented doctor.

This technique is known as the 'Precordial Thump', used as a very preliminary attempt for certain types of arrhythmias. The more you know!

It's good that he was with a doctor, and especially a cardiologist at that!!

That doctor literally took control of the situation, pushed yellow shirt out the way, right hand thumping left hand searching for the pulse. you can even see he was ready to go before he stood up, he threw his pen out his right hand as if he was aware something in the room was turning and his hands sprung to the "lets go", and leaned forward in attack mode as soon as the patients head fell backward.

Dr was on form that day and knew EXACTLY what to do!

this isnt cpr its called a 'precordial thump', it doesnt always work but this instance it did and the patient regained consciousness.

I’m confused. This is not cpr. This is borderline precordial thump. It looks like he’s almost just doing a sternal rub to check response. Step 1) check carotid pulse/breathing. Step 2) if no pulse felt slide patient onto floor, face up. Step 3) direct someone to call EMS/Code. Step 4) start chest compression 2 inches deep at a rate of 100bpm. Step 5) have someone grab an AED/Difib device. Step 6) ALS procedures including IV, intubation, cardiac medications.

Guys, this is neither CPR nor precordial thump. This technique is called "Percussion Pacing" which was once popular.

Doctors are amazing all over the world. My grandma was a nurse in Mexico when she was young, whenever I got sick or injured she was there.

Media should use the correct term for these manoeuvres, imagine if media doesn't write it correctly how will common people.
Saw a collector doing "cpr" In a video Recently where he was jumping over the person who was probably having syncopal attack.
Wrong procedure lead to more harm
PE classes in school should have these courses asap

Just see how his instincts led him to take control of the situation fast.
He set aside the other man and all his knowledge came handy..

CPR?? precordial thump? Neither here. A prcordial thump is one hard blow to “shock” the electrical system. The cardiologist??? didn’t even check for a pulse or if the patient was not breathing. The regular light thumping on this patients sternum just helped to rock the chair. That’s all!!!
