What perfect neighbors to have. Get to know your neighbors, when friends, ask about CPR classes, maybe take them together. I’ve got young people next door who know me, have assured me they’ll help when I need it, even offering to protect me if need be! So grateful for them.

This can happen to anyone. I was only 37 when I had my first heart attack and surgery.

Stories like this remind me to be grateful to everyone who is prepared to step in and help even if (and especially if) they fail to save a life. Success is its own reward and "nothing special" as they often say. Get prepared and you are already a hero.

Yup that brought a tear to my eye….. he was lucky he knew where to go…. And they saved him. Certified in CPR for 38 years… thankfully I’ve never had to use it

I had a widowmaker heart attack 11/23/22 I live alone. I had to call ambulance, get dressed and unlock sliding glass door ( front door) all while having the heart attack. When ambulance arrived, they spent 20 minutes trying to convince me I was just having a panic attack. Even told me the only reason my chest hurts was because of lack of oxygen because I wasn't breathing right. That I needed to breathe in through my nose and hold it for 5 seconds then out through my mouth. They said they couldn't get an EKG on me because I was sweating so much but they never tried to wipe it off. They finally while in doubt decided to take me to the hospital when I started vomiting in their ambulance. However because they still didn't think it was serious they took me to a hospital without a cathlab. As soon as I was wheeled in the door of hospital a nurse walked up and stuck an EKG on me and said " she is actively having a heart attack!" Then they had to wait for a helicopter to fly me to a hospital that did have a cathlab. They put a stent in. But because it took so long, the damage to my heart was permanent. Om Christmas I was still getting on and off chest pains. I went back to the hospital and after 3 days they were getting ready to release me when another doctor said well maybe we should take her back to the cathlab for check. Turned out I had another 90% and 60% blockage. Meaning I was getting ready to have another widowmaker any day. They put 2 more stents in. Last April they put an ICD difibulator into my chest because they say my heart could stop at any moment. My heart only pumps now at 30% so I run out of air easily and can't bend down. Sometimes just walking across the room it will suddenly feel like me legs are going to drop out from under me.

It doesn’t matter what age you are, you can have a heart attack. I had a 28 yr old patient that had a heart attack, we used to tease him that he has 4 kids that’s why he had it.

My husband had his first heart attack at 47. If sign of pain in between shoulder blades and arm don't wait go to emergency. We waited thinking it was a muscle cramp. He end up having massive heart attack and end up having a surgery. Thank GOD his alive today and well.

I was brought up by my nana and she had a heart attack. I was 9 and luckily we had a nurse living next door too who I went round and she saved her but sadly she died about 9 months later with another heart attack and stroke. This story touched my heart. I hope he is still enjoying life and healthy and bless his neighbours helping him.

It's not called a widowmaker for nothing. That's the kind of thing that can still kill you even in the best of circumstances, and people will accept that there just wasn't anything more that could have been done. He's a very lucky man and thank God those neighbors were there to help.
