Did Tenant Leave Rental a Mess? Or Are Landlord's Pics Bogus?

Woman says she didn't leave her rental apartment a mess, but the landlord's pics prove otherwise!

My daughters rented a property once tat was a pig sty when she moved in - including kitchen scraps rotting in the back yard.
I was so shocked, l took photos just incase there was a dispute later. She and l scrubbed the place from top to bottom, then again later when she moved out. I took a second lot of time stamped photos when she moved out as insurance.
My daughter was sued after she moved, for leaving the place a mess, plus damages.
Thank goodness l had my time stamped photos, as the landlord showed their own photos as proof of damage. They were of the same things l had photoed when my daughter moved in.
The landlord was pulling a scam. The landlord was found guilty- plus ordered to pay a fine.
Anyone who doesn’t take time stamped photos to protect themselves is an idiot.

You should always take video footage of how you left the apartment. Also, take footage on the day you moved in as well.

People are literally so dumb! Why wouldn’t she take pictures of the unit before leaving as proof?! She clearly left the mess!

This is why written notices, and "walk throughs" with cell phone in hand are vital. I had a Landlord refuse to refund my deposit. I took them to Small Claims court and won. Owners often let Landlords keep whatever deposit they don't return to the tenant as a "bonus".

It happened once for me in college apartments. We were 4 living in an apartment, two in each room. When it was time to leave the apartment I was the 3rd to leave. The last one left was one guy from the other room. He left some of his stuff and trash. College "USI" put the charges on me. Luckily I had a lady from the international office helping me moving since I'm a foreigner students and she took pictures of my room clean. If it wasn't for her pictures they would have kept the charges on me. From that incident I learned always take pictures and have someone from the property office to walk in to see if the place is good and clean as it should be.

This is similar case to what happened to me with my previous landlord only the pictures were bogus pictures. He was notified three months in advance due to lockdown I couldn’t move out. The landlord tried to claim I’d left the place in a mess but I had 70 pictures to prove his claims false and prove his pictures were either of a different flat or that he had made the mess after I left.

I can understand leaving one or two things behind. A broken chair maybe. But that place looks like it will still take a solid day and a bin to clear out.
