PLC Programming MOV Instruction - Move Ladder Logic RSLogix Studio 5000 Example Tutorial System

The MOV, also known as the move, is an instruction which allows the programmer to copy the contents of one register to another. The basis of the operation is that it will copy the contents of the register specified in “Operand A” into the register specified in “Operand B”. the allowed data types for the instruction are SINT, DINT, INT and REAL. For certain processors, the instruction can be used to copy STRING objects as well.

The MOV instruction is fairly straightforward, but can be used for a wide range of applications. One of such examples is a simple sequencer which is used to start a process. In this example, the system is started and is required to wait for a certain check to complete. After the condition has been satisfied, the process moves to the next step during which the instruction once again restricts the process from proceeding until a condition is satisfied. All of this requires a proper MOV instruction to be implemented on an integer.

DO they have to both same tag location? EX..controller tag to controller tag?(same controller) or can they be any program tag to main program..etc. because i a cannot move any DINTs (both program tags) . i am trying to move a zero to a dint and it will not change

Hmm I did this for temperature set point changing the temp from 150 to 125 all I changed was the destination and it worked I'm confused
