Iam Tongi - Monsters 'Studio Version' (Prod. Amél)

This is not an 'official' studio version. I took the audio from Iam's YouTube channel and added production over the guitar and vocals. It's somewhat of an imagined "what if Iam released a studio version of his cover of 'Monsters'.

*Backstory: I first heard Iam on American Idol and was blown away by his voice and story. His rendition of 'Monsters' particularly touched me as I also lost my father at 18 years old. I personally think Iam's cover is hands down the best version of the track. With that said, I had to work with this track as soon as I heard it (I am a music producer). think Iam is an insane talent and hope he ends up recording a studio version of this track, but until then, here's my interpretation of what a 'studio' version of the track could sound like.

This version of this songs hits home so hard... I'm 41 years old and lost my Dad the day after my 13th birthday. I had only met him once the year before but he was on his way to pick me and my sister up for our birthdays but never made it. My mom was so pissed when he didn't show up, she took us to the mall and got us a few more things. When we got home we had a message on our answering machine that he was in a wreck and didn't make it. Life is not fair but now that I'm grown and have kids and a granddaughter I understand God. I don't understand the "why's" and never will but God does things we can't explain.

I lost my dad about 7 years ago, and still can’t get over it, we had a rocky relationship and felt like my mom my made him to be a monster but he wasn’t, he was a great dad looking out for his 3 sons the best he could. Than when he passed I wasn’t there and I felt he was waiting for me, love this song made me forgive and also move on. Love you pop. Rest in heaven see you later.

There is absolutely no way that you could have written this sing without some sort of communication from your father. I cant stop crying. This is the absolutely most perfect song ive ever heard. I dont watch American idol. But I'm watching you now. Kudos brother!!! Ive never felt closer to my pops since he passed. Thank you. And i wish you the peace this song brought

As I am watching my 70 year old father slowly wilt away this song is like a stab in the heart. What a beautiful voice and the performance on American idol was the best I've ever seen.

I also lost my Father, miss him to this day. When Iam sang this, it hit that place in my heart where I keep my Dad and his memories. Every word was felt. This must have been therapeutic for you. In a way, a great tribute for your own Dad. So many are trying to take advantage of this 18yr old who lost his Dad not to long ago. Just don't want your good intentions to look like that.
