Mine your step... I mean that rock!

Welcome to 10 Minutes More or Less ship review for the MISC Prospector.

This is using update 3.24.3 in the current PTU, the MISC Prospector is priced at $155 on the pledge store, or if you buy it in game for 2,929,500 aUEC in the city of Lorville.

This is the ship you get when you pledge for this ship or if you get it in game.
This review is of the STOCK ship.
This review is just my OPINION.

These reviews are typically around 10 minutes more or less if you don't count the intro with ship showcase and the end screens.

The bigger the ship, the bigger the review.

I really love that you are revisiting the older ships as all the reviews for these are so old now.

I love the Prospector. Mining was my first love in Star Citizen, and it's still my go-to for solo mining and chill game play.

I backed the game in 2015 and I started actually playing SC during 3.18. Although it was a TERRIBLE time to get into the game, the MISC Prospector is the reason I started playing the game. Mining looked SO much fun. Although I lost count on how many times I died randomly to exploding rocks (due to server lag and errors). I LOVE the ship but I never made tons of money from mining. I've made so much more and had more fun with salvaging, but I am keeping a very close eye on mining. Especially with the Arrastra (think thats how you spell that.) I very much want to try a mining op with 2 Prospectors, an Expanse and a Liberator (as the hub of operations). I'm also excited to see where things go with this with the talked about material quality and stuff for crafting and refining. In MMOs I've always dreamed about being the crafter that people goes to to get weapons and armor. Being able to craft and provide quality goods that people actually get use out of gets me super excited. However in other MMOs where you can craft and such, crafted gear is usually worse (and more expensive) than just the random gear/loot you can find elsewhere just by playing.

You should also mention that 32 scu can be upgraded to 48. Though right now there is a collision issue that prevets swapping. To bypass it you have to turn off shields and use any weapon to shoot a metal frame that holds bags till it falls off (any riffle will do). Then you can swap bags and repair the ship to get frames back.

The Humble prospector! I think every citizen has tried this ship out atleast once in their journey. I do remember mining quantinium on Lyria and I enjoyed the experience and recent changes have been good

just because of the freelancer, and the starlancer, and the starfarer, and the hull-c? We have bubble cockpits on the Reliant and the Hull-A as well!

I have one, but then again, I'm a MISC fanboy so I have most of their ships.

I love the Prospector and the mining loop. Really chill way to play and it does take skills.

I feel the vulture is superior in every way RMC can be salvaged and taken directly to sell instead of refining and it’s more profitable anyways they really need to adjust the mining gameplay loop

The Prospector is on my short list of ships to have for the 4.0 wipe. Decent "start from scratch" tool.

hey, you stole my look! 😎

I'm a big fan of small well refined ships with compact interior.
I hope the leaked MISC Fortune(Salvage) is real and in a similar size range and also keeps this gorgeous window design.

Great video, as always. 🫡

There are more than 4 ships that have purpose outsside of cargo and dogfighting: Prospector, Vulture, Reclaimer, MOLE, C8R Pisces, Cutlass Red, Starfarer (Yeah, last one is used for cargo, but it is a refueler), Herald (Sort of, no purpose is no cargo/no-dogfight), and The Medi-pin (which is new, granted), and a couple of ships that are weaponsless racers like the Peregrin and Fury MX (ships that have no weapons and can't dogfight). SRV, and Nursa. Again, some of these ships are new, but these are ships to get into different professions. Oh, Yeah, there are the ROCs if you want to ccount, and I throw that in there 'cause I mentioned the Nursa.
But, it was the FIRST ship in game that had a different purpose, though :) Mining! and what a glorious game it was!

Panels are fun and somewhat euphoric but mining seems interesting. I honestly can’t wait for the Misc Fortune to hopefully be released in 2025? Thank you again for such a solid video and Happy Holidays to you and the family!

Maybe they can introduce weight to speed reduction, so when this is empty its a lot faster but then reduces base fly speed to the current or a bit faster speed and the boosts from the large engine is where you get that speed back at cost of shield draining for escape?

About a year ago when I started playing Star Citizen for real (after having been a sleeping backer since 2013), still in my early gameplay days, some wealthy player gifted me with 5 million aUEC to get me started. I bought both the Vulture and the Prospector with those credits (at that time ship prices were still low enough to buy both of them for that sum and have spare credits for upgrading components!) and tried both Salvaging and Mining gameplay loops. While it's definitely true that Salvaging is (still) the faster money-making gameplay loop, I just like the Mining gameplay loop more! The searching for the right rocks, the gently breaking them without making them explode, the checking of the shards for the high percentage ores that you're looking for, then the refining of your raw ores and finally the loading up of the refined ores of several of your mining trips into a cargo hauler to sell it all together for a nice payout. It's a really fun gameplay loop for me!

About this ship, I'd like it to take a slightly different role than JUST a solo mining ship; Make its name sake count, and use it also to scan for lucrative rocks (maybe have an ability to mark them for follow-up ships like MOLEs or Arrastras, and have the Prospector act as a scout (a prospector) going ahead of MOLEs and searching for new asteroids to break. I've use the Ship this way, and it also aids to break large rocks (adding its laser to the MOLE's 3. Good ship. I do think it does need to be quite quick (which would allowit to prospect) and have a fast Nav speed in order to, maybe Mine only quantom and have a fast speed to get safely to the refinery before ship goes BOM! But also to work as a scout. I Like this ship. I do have a pack with an ORion, but I will at least buy this beauty in game. It will also be a GREAT combo with an Expanse! and possibly a Hull A (Prospector Mines, Expanse REfines, and Hull A Sells & resuplies the other two ships (alternative, ly, a Starfarer to also refuel?) But Yeah. Good ship!
