Very well written. Not quite perfect somehow but still very good. One of my favorite stand-alone’s until I (somehow) find a better equivalent. I doubt I will. Unless written by the original author of course. Then maybe.

Fear is the imagination, it is the embodiment of ideas that go to bad places. What is a dragon but an assortment of fears in a single package? Flames to run you out of house and home, scales like armor to be the invulnerable terror turning sword and arrows across its body? Prowling like a cat in stance as the dark holds no secrets to its own bump in the night. Bat like wings with more alluding to the night but not only on land but by air can one not escape it.

Yet humanity has always faced its fears and with more ferocity than one might need... I'm reminded of a painting depicting 3 people beating a snail in a panic because it has a face to it. We will go with that nuclear option very quickly when we imagine a threat so the idea of fear is very terrifying.

I honestly want to see the one off line about earths wildlife explored more in depth, an interesting concept indeed.
