We're at LTX this weekend, so just a quick HW news video while traveling. Threadripper 2 TDP, X399 boards, and Intel rumors shutdown.

This hardware news episode talks about Threadripper 2's release date, price, and TDP, and also shows a new Gigabyte Extreme X399 board (that we saw previously at Computex). We discuss Intel's shutting down of greatly exaggerated rumors of Extreme Edition's demise, Germany banning pre-orders (under certain conditions), and memory makers facing more IP and patent theft. This follows a year of concerns regarding memory price-fixing and RAM prices skyrocketing, leading buyers to wonder why RAM is so expensive right now. Additionally, Notepad (yes, that one) has gotten an update in the newest Windows 10 patch.

AMD to Buildzoid, "Shut up and wait for the product, " *whispers, * "You're right though."

If there was price fixing, all patents allowing it should go public. Only this make them think before doing it again.

Notepad++ is still the best notepad option imo

Would be really cool if you had that oscilloscope tracing your voice.

I got here at 4 views. 1 was Steve checking his own video. 2 was snowflake giving approval from her tablet. 3 was Linus for getting tips. 4 was me.

I just discovered your channel and would like to say that I love the way you format it. Would be awesome if we could click on your right index of the content to jump to certain subject but it's already very awesome

Part of the resolution for price fixing should be the loss/opening of patents. It creates more competition in the market and would be an incentive for companies to not price fix.

The Unix file line ending thing is something I've been waiting for for YEARS
Every time I try to open a source file I created in Linux, notepad puts everything on the same line

I don’t know about the US, but in the UK every Pascal card is available on the nvidia store for MSRP (even a bit cheaper) So 1060 6gb, 1070, 1070 ti, 1080 and 1080 ti are all available on the store.

The tariffs are crazy... My business just had to pay an additional $950 (in addition to the standard ~$300) in import fees on a large order.

Since the tariffs Hynix, Samsung and Micron stock has all risen which mean the tariffs arent really affecting them as they arent actively shipping from China but rather its just "a stop" on the way so Origin is just rising prices for the fun of it because they dont wait to lose their margins from when everything was expensive.

I wonder how well the notepad update will deal with large files. On Mac the only program I can get to load a 10gb CSV without crashing the system is Terminal.

I am glad ASRock are making Video cards, they are my go to board manufacturer since Z87 when I couldn't find an Asus Z87i-itx deluxe and got a Z87E-itx instead, got to say I am glad I got it as every board I have had since then (297, Z170, Z270 and Z370) has been ASRock thanks to how impressed I was with that little board, and to be honest I don't find I am missing anything I used to get when I only bought high end Asus boards, but I am saving a hefty wedge. If they can do the same in the GFX card arena, then I will likely be giving them my money on that front as well.

My biggest question.. will TR2 bring thunderbolt? If not I still can't use X399 for my specific professional use. Even add in cards don't work, which is sad because some gigabyte boards come with a thunderbolt connector that doesn't work.
