To those who have noticed construction quality issues with this wheel (including myself), RevRides (I'm not affiliated with them in any way) has released a blog post with KS's corrections for the production units:
"As prototype King Song S18s were passed out to content creators to be tested and reviewed, electric unicycle enthusiasts started to question some design and functionality features. Fortunately, these concerns were about a prototype, so King Song listened and addressed them.

Here is a list of changes and improvements on the production model King Song S18:

Adjustable Pedal -Structural: The pedals are adjustable allowing riders to lower the platform by 2cm. This allows riders of different heights to have better control and increased comfort levels on the S18.
Mudguard- Back fender: Previous mudguard was secured by glue and one screw. The final production is secured by a total of 3, one on each shell and one in between with the addition of glue.
Tiring rubbing noise: Some prototypes experienced a rubbing noise issue. The tire we used on prototype is a little bit wider than massive production, and the mainboard holder tubes had some errors, so the tire might be pushed to one side and scratched the body shell. We’ve adjusted the moldings/dimensions to eliminate these issues.
Wobbliness: Users experienced issues where the wheel would wobble when braking. After testing we eliminated the issue being suspension related but was rather padding related. Users could not grip the wheel when braking hard, we have since increased the PU pad thickness from 4mm to 12mm.
Top of wheel hurting inner knee: The padding was not thick enough causing the knee to interact with the harder elements of the wheel. Final production will have increased the PU pad thickness from 4mm to 12mm.
Body shell: Some users experienced the case not being durable enough when crashing. We started using a material with more flexibility causing it to be less brittle. ABS+PC.
Outer shells popping off: Users experienced the white body panels coming off when crashing, we have increased the thickness of the clips so they don’t come off as easily.
Handle: Sometimes the trigger button gets stuck, we’ve added a crystal silicon logo above the button to create a uniform force downwards.
Steel Slide: To increase the durability of our suspension we have changed the sliders from aluminum to steel. The steel is treated to protect it against elements.
Suspension support frame: Suspension support frame is changed from space grey to gold.
Padding durability: We have changed the material for the padding so it doesn’t rub off as easily."

The reason I respect your reviews is because you think an 18 minute video is a "quick" update

Watched, favored and shared every video you've made since I've found this channel. Always look forward to new reviews and of course catching up on older ones. Straight up between the eyes non sugar coated reviews. Appreciate that. 👍

Great honest review Ian, face planting the wheel would not be a problem (of course be careful when charging or when switched off) if the self balancing was left operational just the wheel revolution should be cut. As I keep saying, all Euc's should not cut out throwing the rider on the floor for any reason except battery and motor failure, forward acceleration is the only thing that should cut out leaving the rider with brakes and of course self balancing. If this wheel had that it wouldn't be a problem listening out for I've been trying to push this idea forward.

Thank you for your detailed review as always. Thumbs up 👍 I will wait for your 1000 km review and wait for KS to iron out some quirks with the first batch before I buy mine

Despite being somewhat fragile I still love the design and overall looks of the S18. The battery life is my only real complaint, I need my distance. While I do have a Sherman on order I do see the S18 joining my collection sometime in the future. Thanks for the review!

Perhaps we should wait for a new review with the serious modifications that are being made regarding the change of material in the chassis that increases its weight to 25 kg, change of shock to the AO38RC without negative charge, and I hope they rectify the wobble at high speeds, I think due to its height and other improvements.
It will almost be a new wheel ... Anyway thank you Ian for your review.

there isn't a perfect wheel, but there is a perfect reviewer. Kudos man. The only thing that bothered me in the video was the magenta cast. Other than that, wonderful as always.

Great review Ian... Hopefully all the little problems will be fixed out asap
Enjoyed the slow Mo shots and the skydio footage 👍👍

Ian that was one of the best reviews I've heard thus far, very upfront, very honest, and very thorough, isn't funny when an innovative thing like shock absorption comes to be, alot of us forget what it was originally designed for & that's comfort, many will treat the S18 like a Ferrari/dune buggy. Although very fun that abuse could be costly. If I were to buy this wheel it would definitely be for comfort sure I would venture off to a beaten path but nothing too extreme, Id rather enjoy the ride than wrestle with it, BUT I'll say this if the S18 had speakers & lrgr battery I'd be Rocking down the highway full tilt. 😜👍

Thanks for the detailed coverage, hopefully you will have a chance to do one on the V11 as well

Nice review! My KS18L is still holding great after several years of daily commuting (6, 5k+ Km), but I would'nt mind suspension :) From what I've seen so far, V11 looks a bit more appealing now. I look forward to your review and comparison!
