2016 Volkswagen Passat R-Line: Review

I bought a white 2016 Passat R Line last month. I had been wanted a Passat for a long time but thought it just wasn't sporty enough compared to a BMW 3 series or Audi A6. After test driving the Passat SE several times I decided it was time to buy it. When I went back to the dealer the following week to buy the SE I found the R Line in the show room. Bought it immediately. It has the right mix of style and class...all for $22k. Couldn't be happier.

A very nice car for the price. I would certainly take it over the Altima.
Of course I have always owned and loved those German cars!!

I see the comments about the engine size having only 170 hp. You can put any motor in a car you want to, the difference is always going to be the mpg you get. Im just fine with getting 25mpg in the city with my Passat R-Line. Owned a BMW 550, been there done that with paying tons of money for gas getting tickets for speeding.

Does the Passat come with the DSG transmission as well or that only an option for the 2.0s?

I drive a 16 Volvo S60 t5 2.0 turbo sport package and gets 37 mpg I'll stick with it. This one does have more rear leg room though

If you own the previous models from 2012-2015 and drive this 2016, you will notice you driving the exact same car. Only difference is the timing in turbo lag between them all. Except the 2.5

Wow. o_O I just got done watching this and then watched the European spec 2016 VW Passat R-Line and the European version looks SOOOO MUCH BETTER! It looks so aggressive from every angle, the headlights are different, the front and read bumpers are different, the front grille is shaped different, the DRLs are completely different (more like Audi), the exhaust is integrated into the rear bumper like a high-end sports car and even the interior and steering wheel are completely different and way more sporty! Dafuq? Why did VW water down the American version so much while still calling it an R-Line???

Controversial toward the website about it having paddle shifters or dsg transmission. Can someone give truth to as it it has a dsg transmission or not along with a factory sunroof

You said "German manufacturing", but the Passat is made in Chattanuga, Tennessee. The CC is the Passat in Germany, and that's the one manufactured over there. And 38 hwy mpg? Wow. Very nice review.
