Finally, a YT music making channel that actually answers my questions about mixing and mastering! I find your videos so very useful and inspiring, bro- pls keep em coming!

Informative video thank you! I’ve been mastering at -14LUS with -1db true peak. I’m willing to push that limiter just to see how it is.

My question is. If you’re working on an EP or album, how do you approach mastering similarities to make the album consistent in volume, even if some songs are different in genre and sound?

Hi Fabio, just wanted to say I've been watching a lot of your videos lately and I love everything about them. Thank you!

Well done! I agree with your conclusions.
Wandering what App exactly you used converting to AAC (256?). Because, I made a test myslef converting in iTunes WAV to 256 AAC and could not hear same difference ( loss of bass etc ) like in your test..

Great topic! I find limiting SOMETIMES brings certain harmonics to the sound that make it sound better (reasonable amount of gain reduction though) so maybe you're not alone about what you said :D ... Well from now on I go with - 1dBTP... Have a good day!

if you compare to a cd single of the 90s ( Normalized), there is just so much more head room and clarity of audio, if your DJing and try mix in cd single with a tune from beatport for example it will stand out big time lot difference in dB signal, I'm not sure an MP3 that is mastered for loudness is perfect , as it's already been compressed then rendered compressed via encoded

Searched for this when I realized -14 Lufs masters were maybe too quet. I thought there was something I was missing but now I realize -9 isn't a crime 🤔

guys, what if -14 dB LUFS sounds really quiet?
I try to up LUFS to -9ish dB, but track sounds still quiet
I always use -12 dB of headroom
maybe the problem is in the mixing?

Izotope for my worries and keep the mix clear of distortion...

Is there a (noticable) difference between all the -0.2 and the -1 AAC files?

‘Ogg Vorbis’, not O.G.G.& Vorbis ... 👍

For me the AAC of the first track you played seems a bit unprecise and washed out in the high range. I was listening on DT770 Pro from Beyerdynamic and my Genelec 8260 speakers. I definetly preferred the wav. BUT i doubt a normal consumer has those kinda listening situations :D
