We need to save it. It's too unique to be wasted!

I had a 93 Protege ( the 4 door version of the 323 ) it was an awesome car. I bought it with nearly 200, 000 miles for under $ 1000 . It was my going to work car ( 160 mile daily round trip) I drove it for 4 or 5 years. Only problem I ever had was I had to replace the speedometer cable and the distributor. It went to car heaven with over 400, 000 miles.

323 Mazda was and is a great little car. This would be a great starter car for a young driver.

Miss when cars were simple and meant to get you from point a to b

Correct. The air conditioning was installed at the dealership after the car arrived not at the factor, and for some reason they put the AC button there.

Excellent cars for city back in the day. Years ago, right side passenger mirrors were either optional or built from factory without

My friend had a Mercury Tracer, same car, different front end. Except it was a 5 speed. Fun little car.

My first car in High School was a red 323. Brings back memories of trying to fit my 6'6 ass into it. Good times.

My cousins neighbor had one in his yard for 15 years and wouldn't sell it to me. One day sold it off to someone else and now I see it driving around town. It's teasing me.

That was back when the dealer installed the air conditioning. Base Japanese vehicles up to around 2000 were like this.

I feel like a car like this would in the first Gran Turismo game from the 90s

I had a 323F BA (Lantis in Japan)... Wasn't sold in the US, but designer wise it was special... A coup like styling, frameless windows, 4 door + hatchback/liftback... Very unique, too bad the engines were hella underwhelming even back in the 90s...1.5L 90hp, 1.8 115hp, 2.0 V6 140hp.

Something like that, the AC button being closer to the driver meant it could act as a 'turbo' button. Drive along with the AC on, need extra power? Click the AC off and suddenly gain between fifteen and thirty horses it would feel like. Those small cars were great for that.

These cars are rare as it gets these days. If you find one, most parts swap with the Escorts and Proteges of the same era. 97-03 Escorts are also good for parts swaps.
