You didnt mention the overwhelmingly predominantly Indian population as a reason? My mother moved out because, as a non-Indian, she felt like a foreigner in her own country, sometimes the only white person on the street or in a big store and not understanding a single word that's being said around you. They're neighbourly and friendly towards each other but if you're not one of them, they treat you like an outsider. That alone would be enough to make most people move out of there. It's unfortunate.

Brampton, Ontario is the same as Surrey, British Columbia.

Leave the cities.

In June 2023 Brampton, ON was officially declared a epicenter of gender based violence and a state of emergency. Specifically, women suffering heinous abuses, stabbings, sexual abuse, and other types of violence.

Brampton was a beautiful sleepy satellite town to Toronto in the 70s. It was clean, friendly, safe and people said hello to you in the street. I left in the late 90s and have never looked back.

I have a sneaky suspicion that Brampton's lack of livability has something to do with the white flight and its resulting metamorphosis into browntown.

Canada 🇨🇦 is finished. We wanted this. My generation screwed it up. We wanted Sik Punjabi overlords. We got it.

Traffic is nuts 7 days a week. Plus Brampton has the worst drivers. True fact.

I was born in Brampton in 1954 and worked there all of my life, until I retired in 2015. I moved out of Brampton in 1982 because I could sense that it was becoming less neighbourhood friendly and a faceless suburbia. But, in 2007 I found a quaint home in downtown Brampton, near Gage Park and close to some nice downtown restaurants and moved back to Brampton, looking for the town that I had known in the 50's, 60's and 70's. But it didn't take too long to learn that you "can never go home" and that the Brampton of my youth had changed forever. Once bitten, twice shy. In 2017 I moved out yet again, knowing that I will never call Brampton home again. I guess that is progress!

I have to agree. For me it's the driving. OMFG. I feel like i take my life in my hands every time I drive. People drive crazy, pass you in the turning lanes, and LOUD cars. Street racing you can hear it at night. The stores have gotten dirty. It's becoming a dive in Brampton. Shootings. Beatings. Theft. I've lived here for 25 years. It was nice. Now it isn't. (And now the Region has added run off water to the bills. Already taxes for sewer, now this? Mississauga sold it as needing money to replace sewer systems, how is Brampton selling it??

I do agree that a lot of people have come to Brampton and they don’t treat other people nicely
