Join us in Brampton, Ontario as we try Indian food in Canada, grabbing take-out Punjabi food from Taste of Punjab restaurant, while telling stories from our first trips to India (before we even met each other!). Editing our India series from Amritsar had us both craving delicious Punjabi dishes. Fortunately, where we are currently based in Brampton, Ontario we have options galore for Indian restaurants and more specifically Punjabi restaurants serving up authentic cuisine. After doing a quick Google search we found a take-away restaurant that had excellent reviews and prices (Taste of Punjab) located only 15-20 minutes by car from our house. While scrolling through the extensive menu online the hardest part was narrowing down our selection. We basically took turns selecting dishes and making sure to try as many Amritsari Punjabi foods as we possibly could.

What we ended up ordering was exactly this:

Paneer Masala
Palak Paneer
Dal Makhani
Butter Chicken
Aloo Gobi
Chicken Tikka from the tandoori oven
Veg Biryani
Butter Naan
Garlic Naan
Amritsari Kulcha with Chole

Placing our order around 11:30 am we were likely one of the first customers of the day and yet they still got everything prepared in under 45 minutes. We brought home five big bags of food. We were impressed by the portions and overall price given we just ordered mostly small items. The biggest surprise of all was that we were given an extra curry with chickpeas. I'm not sure if this was a mistake or a gift for ordering so many dishes.

I can honest say we loved everything. The curries were rich, flavourful and spicy and having not sampled Indian food for such a long time we enjoyed each and every bite. Our favourites were the butter chicken and palak paneer.

If you're looking to try some of the best Indian food in Brampton consider this restaurant:

I first went to India on a backpacking trip back in 2010 back in the days when I was a hardcore shoestring backpacker. Audrey on the other hand experienced her first trip to India to attend a wedding and ended up going with her sister. We have plenty of detailed stories to share from our first time visiting India which we'll share in future videos.

Now over to you. Where is the best Indian food in Canada you've tried before? How about best Punjabi food in Canada or elsewhere outside of India? Please let us know in the comments below.

INDIAN FOOD in Canada 🇨🇦: Trying PUNJABI FOOD in Brampton + Stories From Our FIRST TRIPS to INDIA!🇮🇳

Hey guys, Sam and Audrey here! Over the past few weeks we’ve been publishing our India video series, and editing all that footage has got us craving Indian food. That’s why for today’s video, we decided to get some takeout here in Brampton. We ordered some Punjabi food and also got chatting about our very first solo trips to India exactly 10 years ago before we knew each other. So get ready for some baby-faced photos...and some delicious food!

🥘 Craving Indian Food in Canada: Punjabi Takeout Feast + Our First Solo India Adventures 🇮🇳🍛

🍽️ Ordering Punjabi Food in Brampton

With countless Indian restaurants in Brampton, we hunt for the best-reviewed Punjabi spot and settle on Taste of Punjab.

🚗 Pickup & Unboxing: Punjabi Food Galore

We drive to the restaurant for curbside pickup and return home with five (actually, six!) bags of mouthwatering food. Back in the kitchen, we do a full food tour:

Veg Biryani: Aromatic, saffron-colored rice with peas, carrots, and corn.

Breads: Butter naan, garlic naan, and a spiced Amritsari kulcha.

Tandoori Chicken Tikka: Tender, smoky pieces with veggies on the side.

Curries: Aloo gobi (potato & cauliflower), palak paneer (spinach & cottage cheese), paneer masala, creamy butter chicken, slow-cooked dal makhani (black lentils), and a surprise chickpea curry (chole).
We set up for a feast—using serving spoons to avoid double-dipping—and load up our plates.

😋 Taste Test & Favorites

We dig in, trying a little of everything and sharing our reactions. Standouts include the buttery dal makhani, rich palak paneer (the spiciest dish of all!), classic butter chicken (a nostalgic favorite from Canadian childhood parties), and flavorful garlic naan. The paneer masala and aloo gobi also get high praise. The meal is authentic, generous, and satisfyingly spicy—just like in India!

Loved this video Sam and Audrey! I really enjoyed hearing of your past travels to India! Travel has changed so much. I was in India between 1992-1994. Backpacked the first year then went to college in Bombay(now Mumbai) the 2cnd year. there was no internet or smartphones back then so I arrived with a backpack, a few photocopied maps from library travel books as well as a few notes I made of attractions to visit from those same books. I had nothing booked in advance. I just showed up at hotels or hostels on the spot. Those were the days when the thrill of travel was in the unknown! Keep up the great work!

Watching you guys eat with so much excitement and happiness made me so happy right now. So happy to know that you guys enjoy Indian food so much.
And loved your First trip to India stories so much.
Eagerly waiting for your India tour videos.
All the best for your cooking experiment.
I would suggest try some readymade curry packets for the first time. And then try making full fledged home cooked meals.
And it was good watching you guys eat together after a long time. It refreshed my memories of your videos from Rajasthan were you tried Rajasthani thali.
Hope this Covid 19 thing ends soon and you guys can start travelling.
Have a great day.
Surely had a great one watching this❤
