No, your teammates aren't holding you back.

DPS has become the strongest role in Overwatch 2 with the removal of the Second Tank. However, a common sentiment is that the role can not carry games. This video will highlight the abstract concepts that shape our Overwatch 2 decision making that most DPS players will not get by just playing more, or clicking heads. If I did my job correctly, this video will guaranteed open your eyes onto the proper perspective of how to approach the game.

The biggest advice I've read is in ranked, "Play with the team you have. Not the one you want."

i think the biggest mistake that alot of people are making is that they have the idea that your team is supposed to follow up on whatever you're doing, and that you're the one who's meant to make plays.

whats better, 4 players having to be aware of what their dps is doing OR 1 player being aware of what the rest of their team is doing? Instead of trying to make your own openings, if you just play off of your team then you'll instantly find improvement

Maybe it’s just me, but the cuts to clips from other games made it hard to focus on digesting your information at points. Thanks for putting in the time and effort to make this video and the last though. You’re telling me things I didn’t even know existed, my win ratio is starting to make sense 😬

I found that no matter how much you want to improve, there is always going to be obstacles that you can’t climb and you need to find another solution. Sometimes you have to sacrifice something for that improvement. You can be doing everything you can to win a game, but unfortunately, your teammates are lacking in brain cells and your forced to sacrifice the win for a loss. Sometimes it unavoidable, but these games can be a great learning experience and a good way to improve. The trick is always the mindset. Have more fun by caring less about losing and enjoy the learning/improvement journey.

Honestly this video made me realize something. I recently started thinking "hey, i should just stay with team", behind rein shield for instance, since I started dying when trying to flank. But it's such a common thing to stop doing things that don't initially work and stick to what used to in the past. This was a great reminder to just keep trying to evolve when wanting to get better so thanks!

That brief clip of Gigantic gameplay got me all nostalgic and teary eyed.
Such a good game. RIP....

I'd be interested to see if you could make a similar video for the Tank role; in my experience, it's hell to play as one, because almost no one on my team will either secure kills, or avoid dying to give heals.

A10 has been my go to for educational content for a while now, literally the best there is on the site and has taught me so much. Thank you, A10Nerd

Your guides have rapidly helped my understanding of OW, you approach the game at a much more cerebral level than other guides I've watched

I've been queuing ranked with a friend and have only been able to queue DPS. It's been a new skill set to learn (mainly play support) but this video was super useful for making me realize why certain games have worked well and others haven't.

Most of the time when professional coaches make videos like this they simply say be aware and improve. The way you elegantly go through examples and introduce new terminology is extremely helpful, got a sub from me keep up the great work.

Also make sure to ignore calls from your teammates that you are doing to much alone. I had this so many times where I played off angle or flanked as dps and got a lot of value out of it, but when it doesnt work out my team flames me for playing alone. I think most people are still used to the old 6v6 meta where you almost all the time had to move as one to win a match. I don't want to say that you never have to group but I feel like in OW2 the dps playstyle has definitely shifted due to the tank changes mentioned in the video.
And it is obviously important that you train your capability to 1v1 or even 1v2 because you have to get used to dealing with the enemy alone if you go for these plays. You will lose a lot of duels in the beginning, but if you never go for it you will also never improve.

I feel like these videos are a much better first step to me getting better than watching vod reviews (although I haven't seen any of yours if you've done any). Sure I can maybe learn what to do in certain situations on a particular hero but there's never really any overarching ideas to tie it all together; it's just "remember this specific situation and you'll know what do when it happens", which is like learning and remembering every possible position in chess and what do from there to win. I've always wanted to understand the fundamentals more to get a grasp of processes rather than set pieces, and your videos have been great for that!

This honestly feels more like a philosophy for DPS rather than just a youtube guide - every credit A10, look forward to seeing more!

AWESOME video A10. This opened my eyes to a lot of shit I was doing wrong, even as a tank main. Understanding space as a resource is such a powerful concept in OW2

This is such an important video because it articulates so many important concepts that are hard to make the most of without understanding them on this level and so many of these things are also taken for granted far too often

Love the content. Editing and explanation were amazing. One thing I might say though is lay off on the memes a bit, I feel like they do more to detract from your message. In any case, top tier content
