Kazakhstan, officially the Republic of Kazakhstan, is a transcontinental country located mainly in Central Asia and partly in Eastern Europe.
Date of independence : 16 December 1991 from the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR).
Kazakhstan is the world's largest landlocked country, the largest and northernmost Muslim-majority country by land area.
It has a population of 19 million people, and one of the lowest population densities in the world.
Kazakhstan's dominant ethnic group, the Kazakhs, traces its origin to the 15th century.
Russian advancement into the territory of Kazakhstan began in the late 18th century.
Official government census data report the contraction of Kazakh population from 3.6 million in 1926, to 2.3 million in 1939.
As of 2021, ethnic Kazakhs are 70.4% of the population and ethnic Russians in Kazakhstan are 15.5%
