Kazakhstan is an incredibly large country and the part of Kazakhstan I visited was incredibly atheistic or agnostic. It was a village populated mostly by displaced Germans from the Volga region during World War II as well as by Russians, and of course the ethnic Kazakh people are Muslims in that village but also there was a Korean community which was split between Buddhists and Christians of various forms. Very interesting country and I highly recommend everybody to visit this friendly country. It's also very safe.

Kazakhstan population is around 70% islam, 20% Christianity and 10% agnostic/Atheist....
The southern part of Kazakhstan has most religious people as compared to other parts of the country. Kazakhstan muslims are not as strict practicing muslims like Arabs and indians bt still they say islam is part of their life, culture, tradition.
The politicians of Kazakhstan and other central asian countries still follow the ideology of communist and Soviet union and try to create problems for people following religion
