With so many varieties in our skin tones, hair colors, and features, the human race is a marvel of evolution. But what if we all decided to preserve our family traits? What if everyone started inbreeding tomorrow? Would more people die? Would we be more at-risk for disease? And, uh, exactly who would mate with who?

There are people in America who are TRYING to fight for the "legalization of parents marrying their own children", and they need to see this video ASAP!

If this ever becomes normal/enforced, I'd happily stay single for the rest of my life.

My first BF in my teens had these small scars on each hand near his pinky. I finally asked him about it one day and he told me he had been born with 6 fingers and 6 toes. I could tell he was a bit embarrassed but he also showed me the little scars on his feet. I was just like, "oh ok" and honestly didn't think too much about it. Obviously as our relationship progressed he would tell me more about his childhood, etc. He actually spent a lot of time as a child getting treatment/surgeries for different ailments. Long story short once we got to the point he introduced me to his family I learned that his mom and dad are cousins!. I was so shocked at the time... over time I also learned that his dads brother was also married to a cousin. So his dad, his mom, his uncle and his aunt are all related. I finally was like, "How? Why?". Their reason for it was that growing up in Mexico they lived in a Ranch in a remote area so by the time they were teens only people they really spent most of their time with was each other (cousins). Everyone (their children) were all healthy to my knowledge and my ex was the only one I know of who was born with a deformity and other issues. I try to not be judgemental but 🥴

Imagine we could have born with super strength, and many super human abilities but we didn't, because our ancestors were inbreeding and we're all now born with some disorder which doesn't give those super human abilities.

Another major factor involving inbreeding - because inbreeding causes a greater expression of mutant genes than usual, though the damage can be extensive when bad genes are involved, if the gene happens to code for some advantage when expressed in the environment, provided the breeding group is not so small as to leave no survivors, over time, inbreeding within a large group or even a struggling small group can lead to lightning evolution. Changes that would normally take millions of years can appear in a few thousand. This is probably why modern humans popped up so fast. At one stage we were nearly wiped out but inbreeding presumably enabled rapid changes that happened to be advantageous. Indeed to such an extent, that we arose out of our brutish ancestors in a very short time measured only in thousands, not millions of years. Don't knock inbreeding entirely - it's a double edged sword, both destructive and creative, though admittedly it destroys far more than it creates because there are just so many bad genes. For the single couple, inbreeding definitely should be avoided. So lads - don't put the hard word on your sister! Another advantage of inbreeding is that over time, it leaches out all the bad genes because so many bearers of those genes die young and fail to pass them on. There's a herd of highland cattle in Scotland that's been inbreeding for possibly several millennia, until now their genomes are entirely stable. The downside is that the herd would almost certainly have NO chance of evolving in response to a severe environmental change and would rapidly die out.
