I'm still curious as to exactly how the knowledge of the shape of the Earth somehow enslaves those who believe the evidence for a globe Earth rather than the lack of evidence for a Flat Earth. Exactly what sort of power is gained in knowing the true shape of the world that makes it imperative to keep that information hidden from the vast majority of people when all the evidence gathered supports the position of those who are apparently being deceived by this conspiracy?

The ancient Greeks didn't only make the assumption that it's spherical, they also calculated the circumference of the earth, with a mistake of only a few kilometres

My neighbor is a ardent flat earther. We have gone “a round and a round” about this. He claims there never hurricanes south of the equator. Strange that he believes in an equator.

You might want to caveat that with "with a hundred gallon tank standing stationary for days with a tiny drain hole". The coriolis effect is barely measureable on a small scale REGARDLESS of hemisphere. The draining direction has been shown to be almost entirely reliant on the shape of the container and direction the water entered it (even if left stationery for half an hour so it 'appears' flatr), or angular momentum added to the container such as the bucket trick used on the equator (which works anywhere).

The fact that the dislike bar is more than 10% makes me think that flat-earthers can't take a rational explanation. Hopeless. What more if these flat-earthers are influential people? It may make mayhem in the long run.
