Kirk's eulogy for Spock always gets me. Kirk's voice cracking and him barely being able to hold his shit together. People always say that William Shatner is a hammy actor, but here he is perfect.

The Enterprise Vs the Reliant is still one of the best battles in Star Trek

Another great back trek. I'm always floored by the model work ILM was able to pull off. Masters of their craft.

I will never forget sitting in the front row of the theatre with my buddy watching this film. We were both in tears when Spock died. Hell, it's nearly 40 years later, and I've watched this movie numerous times, and I still get teary eyed at that point.

Wrath of Kahn is a brilliant film and one of my favorites. I have a lot of respect for what both Bennet and Myer were able to accomplish.

You know Spock's death was great because even having seen all the movies and TV series and knowing what comes after, it still really strikes home. It's eminently rewatchable because it's so well performed.

This is the movie that roped me in as a fan. I saw the movie and then saw the Space seed on television in a rerun a few weeks later (coincidentally). You really had to be there. The gasp by audience members when the eel goes into Chekov's ear. The jump scare when McCoy finds the crew of Regula one hanging upside down and the cheers when Kirk says: 'Here it comes' were something to experience in a packed theater.
Nicholas Meyer has a real sense of drama and comedy and especially of character. You get an unspoken feeling of Chekov's relationship with his new captain Terrell ('You know what she'll say.') and the strong filial devotion between Khan and Joachim. ('Yours is the superior intellect'.) Most importantly you have the relationship between Saavik and Spock playing out. The mentor preparing his ward and imparting his many decades of wisdom.

I've always kind of liked the fan theory that Carol was the "blond lab assistant" that Gary Mitchell hooked up with Kirk. The timeline doesn't really match up with David's age, but they could have gotten back together for a time later. We've seen that with one glaring exception, Kirk's ex-loves seem quite willing to renew the relationship when they meet again, even if they know it's just for a short time.

Seeing that photo of younger Bibi Besch makes me realize that casting Alice Eve as Carol Marcus in Star Trek Into Darkness was spot on.

This is series is so well put together. Better than BBC\PBS\CBC or Paramount could make.

The movie is really a masterpiece, from the characters to the special effects and the score. I was a teen when I saw it in a theater here, in Argentina and I was amazed. The first movie was more exploration, sense of wonder than action, this one had sense of wonder, action and drama. Also that sadness about Spock's death, but the suspicion and hope he would return, well, we know what happened later, but that's in the next episode!

Your're great man. I really appreciate it your stuff. I listen to it while working, cleaning the house and then finally right before bed I will actually get to WATCH it with my actual eyeballs. It's all great. Thank you.

You have to love the approach taken by the visual effects people. Need a new ship? Turn it upside-down. Need a new starbase? Turn it upside-down. THAT is creative use of budgetary constraints.
