March 29 is Vietnam Veterans Day, which commemorates the service, dedication, courage, and sacrifice by all those who served in the Vietnam War. This year marks the 50th anniversary of OPERATION HOMECOMING: 54 C-141 missions which repatriated 600 Prisoners of War from Vietnam from February 12 to April 4th, 1973. Travis Air Force Base was one of the first locations stateside where POWs and their families were finally reunited. Our role in OPERATION HOMECOMING is one of our proudest legacies here at Team Travis.

The melody widely known as “Going Home,” performed in this video by Travis Brass, is one of the most famous themes from Antonin Dvorak’s “Symphony No. 9 ‘From the New World’”. Antonin Dvorak composed his ninth symphony in 1893 for the New York Philharmonic and is dedicated to the awe-inspiring landscapes and cultures he found in The United States. Today, “Going Home” is an important hymn in military ceremonies, memorials, and services, as it captures the poignancy and depth of what it means to dedicate one’s life and spirit to serving the American people.

Special thanks to the California Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Sacramento for hosting us and allowing us to film in such a sacred and meaningful space.
