I’m not a mathematician, but I think that was more than two ingredients.

I use milk all the time in this matter, but mostly for rice and not pasta. We put away the boxed rice along time ago when the quantity and quality started to diminish and make it fresh now, like this is our version of Rice-A-Roni Parmesan/Romano cheese, formally of the "rustic" line:

Garlic, finely chopped (3 medium or 4 smaller cloves)
1 stick of butter (any kind is fine, to your taste, we used salted)
Water, room temperature, 2 cups
Milk, 2 cups (we used 2% with great results)
Fat free creamer unflavored 1/4 cup (optional, we originally thought 2% milk wouldn't be creamy enough, but we still add this if short on milk)
White rice, raw, 2 cups (plain ol’ regular white long grain rice is fine)
Salt and Pepper
Parsley (fresh 1 tablespoon or 1-1/2 teaspoons dried, but totally optional)
Parmesan/Romano cheese, grated or shredded, abt 1/2 cup (you can use all parm or all romano if you want, your choice)

DIRECTIONS:
In a large saucepan or a skillet with a little depth that will hold the amt of rice you want to use, put in the garlic and butter.
Saute it over medium about 3 minutes, you should begin to smell it.
Add the uncooked rice, and stir it around with a flat flexible spatula (so you can better scrape the bottom - I did that anyway with regular rice a roni). Make sure all the rice is now coated with the butter.
Add the milk (and FF creamer if you want), the water, and salt (and a little pepper if you like it).

Bring the whole mixture to a boil and then reduce the heat to a simmer (just like with regular rice a roni).
Cover the pot/pan and simmer on LOW for about 20 minutes.
During the 20 minutes, occationally open the cover and scrape the bottom and stir with the flat spatula to make sure it doesn't stick.
If it is sticking, you have the heat too high so just lower it! This is a simple slow simmer-cook.
After 15-20 mins, during one of the stirs, taste the rice to see if it's cooked sufficiently to your liking (soft enough). If not, continue
with the cooking, and you CAN add a little more milk/water if you want til you get the hang of exactly how much you like in the recipe.
When the rice is cooked to your liking, THEN stir in the parm/romano and the parsley. Stir thoroughly and TASTE.
Add more cheese if you need to. (We used a Locatelli Romano with a little grated Parmesean custom combo).
If you still need it a little creamier, add a touch of the milk or FF creamer (it's a forgiving recipe, can't screw it up!)
Then take it off the heat and put the cover back on, and let it sit for a few minutes.

Also, you can easily halve this recipe to make 2 super huge portions or 4 normal size portions for a side dish. Just halve everything and if you feel it needs a splash more hot water or milk, just add it right in (since you CAN and SHOULD lift the lid throughout this recipe). Just keep track of how much milk or water you added additionally, and write it down, then the next time, you'll know EXACTLY how much you needed to your liking, and it will take the same amt of time as a regular box of Rice a roni does).

I suspect I could make dozens of new PASTA Roni dishes with this milk method, but we have so many fav traditional pasta dishes as it is that we don't lack for any new ones in the pasta category.

Try even chopping up some very fine carrots, celery, onion, throw in some frozen peas, etc., in the rice added and sauteed with the butter stick and you can really fancy it up any which way you need to for whatever entree you're making. Or throw in some peeled & deveined shrimp toward the end and make this a one-pan meal for everyone.

In my country, there is actually a dish like this called "sopas" or simply just creamy macaroni soup consisting of macaroni, milk, and broth cubes. Additional optional ingredients are chicken, carrots, hotdogs, and some cabbage. It's a really good comfort food for cold weather.

I haven't tried this but there's no way that this tastes good, as a pasta specialist I'm extremely sceptical.
