The better Toyota bZ4X? 2023 Lexus RZ electric car review: New RZ450e EV targets Tesla Model Y SUV

The 2023 Lexus RZ is finally here, giving Australian buyers their first taste of Toyota's new dedicated electric vehicle (EV) platform, which has also spawned two other mid-size SUVs, the Toyota bZ4X and Subaru Solterra.

That's right; the RZ is Lexus' first proper electric car, following in the tyre tracks of the UX300e small SUV, which uses a modified version of the UX's internal-combustion engine (ICE) underpinnings. Point being, the RZ should have fewer compromises - but does it?

In this expert review, CarsGuide Journalist Tom White finds out if the RZ was worth waiting for by putting its RZ450e variant through its paces. It's got dual-motor performance and all-wheel-drive grip - but does it have the driving range to match?

No frunk, weak regen and based on a platform that had the wheels falling off, also the range is relatively short

I understand that taste and pleasure have differences, but does the 20" wheels look so much better that people will sacrifice 40 km range, more noise and less driving comfort for the 20" instead of 18" wheels. With shorter range the 20" wheels will make 10 % higher cost per km or mile. In addition 20" wheels will wear out faster and it's needed to buy new tires more often even to a higher cost bexause 20" is more costly. Take a drive and a look, if you have thought of all this and still want 20" you don't have to regret when you feel the bumps and are paying the extra bills. Have a pleasent drive😊

5 years old EV technology, no regenerative braking, no frank, sharing all internal components with BZ4X's myriad of hoses and cables under the hood, carrying lead battery ... Need buyers not sellers review.

The usable battery size is only 64 kWh which is small for this size of car, you will be lucky getting 350 km 👎

Tbh I don't support evs at all . I call the idea of electrification as a trash . Though people hype about the evs in terms of sales performance etc I don't think all those middle class families can afford an ev or even if they can afford it's hard to bear the cost for maintaining an ev .
Those issues with battery and software cannot be fixed easily. Any of those problem you'll be stranded overnight. Evs are even complicated to work upon meaning that you'll have to end spending for that technology . Battery are more harmful than fossil gases for environment. With more complicated technology the car is very dangerous to drive all Though our generation x zombies call them innovation it's sheer laziness . People want a car to park by itself, drive by itself, apply breaks by itself. These autonomous driving technology ultimately lies in the hands of an hacker or a government. They mess with one of the electronics of a car and kill the citizen by either accidents or fire .
In reality evs suck
