It’s time to find out which small electric SUV is better - the Kia EV6, or the Toyota bZ4X?!

Well in this review, Mat’s going to put these two EVs through their paces, testing everything from their exterior & interior design through to their real-world range and just what they’re like to drive!

When it comes to performance, the Kia is easily the more powerful car. The bZ4X’s single and dual motor editions can produce 204hp and 217hp respectively. In comparison, the single motor EV6 puts down 218hp, while the dual motor produces 325hp!

The Kia also has a slightly bigger battery pack, 73kWh compared to the Toyota’s 71kWh. As a result, the Kia also has a slightly larger claimed range - 325 miles compared to the Toyota's 317 miles. It's also worth noting the larger range comes with the single motor editions on both cars!

So, which would you choose? Would you go for the more powerful EV6? Would you choose the slightly cheaper bZ4X? There’s only one way to find out - stick with Mat for this all-new EV group test!

Can't believe how far Kia and Hyundai have come in just 10 years. Used to be budget boxes, now they're competing with VW's and Tesla's!

Honestly, there is no comparison between the EV6 and the Toyota. The former is leagues ahead in virtually every respect- performance, range, styling, handling, interior quality, infotainment system, tech features, charging speed, desirability etc.

Also there is a major reliability issue with the BZ4X as every unit that has been sold is being recalled due to the dangers of its wheels falling off. This is simply ludicrous incompetence from the Japanese.

Toyota and the other Japanese automakers seem to be totally out of their depth in the EV race while the Koreans are going from strength to strength.

EV6 actually has a 77.4 kWh battery. Agree with the verdict; the Kia is the better car. Great video!

I prefer KIA, looks more futuristic instead of awkwardly rugged

For me, the Kia has killer styling, better driving dynamics (I like it a bit more sporty), better range, better tech, better performance, WAY FASTER CHARGING and a better warranty. But to be honest, I'd almost take the Kia on looks alone...that plastic cladding on the Toyota is entire unacceptable on a range topper.. Kia EV6 vs Hyundai Ionic 5 is a tough call for me though..

I agree with you 100 percent, the Kia is a really beautiful car and it looks like someone put some serious thought into its design.
I don't like the steering wheel with the instrument panel the most on Toyota, it's really disgusting.

I was seriously expecting something extraordinary from a 'Toyota' As they made us wait for such a Long time. And now they're losing with a Kia ; a brand people used to hate even just 10/12 years ago. It shows how far the competition has gone.

Kia and Hyundai makes the most coolest, futuristic and electric looking electric SUVs in the world! The Hyundai Ioniq 5 and this Kia EV6 proves that!

Never thought I'd see a day where a Kia is preferred to a Toyota

The design of the EV6 is just great, if I could afford one it would be the EV for me.

There's no comparison, the EV6 is clearly superior in every aspect except for the 2nd row slightly better space. Though in Toyota's defense the EV6 is better than pretty much any other EV out there on their price range (note, the Model Y is not in this price range)

Toyota is effectively a generation behind Kia/Hyundai when it comes to EV, and it shows here.

You missed the bZ4X’s Achilles heel, it’s very slow charging time. It takes over 45 minutes to get to 80% charge on a DC fast charger compared to the Kia, which does it under 20 minutes. I would also like to see a comparison of the driver aids.

Eventhough I'm a Toyota driver/fan it's gonna be the KIA. No glovebox is a no go! I also don't like the dials on top partially blocked by the screen.

I used to drive only Audis and Mercedes for performance but after test driving EV6 GT I felt like Kia is now right up there with the best, especially in EVs. Kia EV6 GT drives like a spacecraft.

Maybe we should all take a minute, to acknowledge how far, how much progress Kia has made! Not too long ago, most of us would never think a Kia, ANY Kia, could ever go up against a Toyota, let alone beat one!!! 😃

Ev6 has a 77, 4kWh battery pack, not 73kWh as stated in the video

I'm voting for the one whose wheels don't fall off.

The bZ4X looks ok, but i really dislike the big solid plastic ironing board instead of a 'grill". Cool headlights, and the colour is real nice on it. Nice enough interior but also a tad average.
The EV6 (together with the ionic5 )is just so much cooler looking both outside and inside.
