I just got my deck today and I honestly really enjoyed this video. While it was very enlightening, it was quick and easy. :) I thought there would be more to shuffling but it's comforting to know it's not all that complicated (depending on what you choose anyways). Thank you!

One way that I also shuffle my cards is by dealing out four separate piles then continue to add 1 card to each pile until the whole deck is separated into the four piles. I also mix it up by dealing 5 cards in each pile from the front of the deck then switching to 5 cards from the bottom of the deck into each pile. I deal the cards in a specific order I start with pile 4 then, pile 2 then, pile 3 then lastly, pile 1. I know that this sounds like a lot but I have always done this so it seems natural to me. Finally, I add in a few rifle shuffles 3 to be exact and some overhand shuffling to complete the process as this is when cards can “jump out”. My whole purpose for doing this is of course is to make sure they are very well mixed for the first reading. If anyone is interested to know how I came up with this method, this is the why part…I do this because I think consistently strengthens energy, I’m also a bit OCD, and numerology and numbers are very prevalent in my life so it all has meaning that is strictly personal to me more specifically, my lucky number is 42/5 (425 but 42 for short like a nickname but nicknumber instead I guess.
So 425 = start with 4 pile then going to pile 2…and so on but in addition, (pun intended) the reason why I deal 5 cards in each pile starting from the top of the deck and then switching to the bottom until all the cards are dealt Into the 4 piles (if it’s a 78 card deck then on the last round there are only two cards not four so I add one to pile 4 and the other to pile 3 because…oops I just realized that I forgot a few steps…rewind, I actually take pile 4 and pile 2 and rifle shuffle those together. Then I take pile 3 and pile 1 and do the same then I take the result of that which is two piles and then rifle shuffle 3 more times with now the entire deck then to complete I do overhand shuffling because that’s when cards can magically “jump out” So back to why the last two cards I add to pile 4 and pile 3 I do this so that there are an even number of cards when I shuffle piles 4 and 2 and then shuffle piles 3 and 1 together. I used to put the last two cards into piles 4 and 2 my lucky number but that doesn’t go over so well when I am using big cards that I can’t rifle shuffle. So instead of rifle shuffling I just take the two piles and put one card down from each back and forth until they are in one pile and if I put the last cards in pile 4 and pile 2 then when I shuffle the result of shuffling piles 4 and 2 with the result of shuffling pile 3 and 1 then the result of pile 4 and 2 would have more cards. Wow typing that out really makes me sound totally crazy, I hope that made sense. Lastly I want to add that I only do this method when it’s a brand new deck. I swear I’m not crazy or anything this might seem like it takes a lot of time and effort but for me it’s like second nature. I do it very quickly and it somehow calms and centers me and gets me ready for my very first read with a new deck. My first reading with a new deck is always an interview spread (which I have a few that I can choose from depending on the type, theme, and style of deck. Before I begin my readings I also recite a “activation prayer” with brand new decks to initiate them into my collection and then I recite my go-to invocation I say before every reading but, I won’t go into details about that. Unless someone is interested you can comment back and I’ll fill you in. But I think I’ve overstated and overstayed my welcome with this comment.

Holy shit, I was shuffling my deck and when you got to the ace of cups I noticed that my top card was that exact card but face up and was the only one in the deck like it.

I don't know if my cards are just really long but I'm having trouble even getting my fingers all the way around them to do that overhand shuffle or whatever it's called and that rifle one you're talking about I am absolutely terrible at I am just terrible period at shuffling and I'm trying to learn tarot and shuffling is just super hard apparently for me :/
