After watching 3 or 4 videos on “why I don’t need one...” you’ve confirmed I definitely need one. Thank you for the insight.

Ok for the noise supressor...but what about the effects loop if you use many other pedals with no returns?

If you skip from the high gain playing at 5:06 (pedal off) back to 4:44 (pedal on) you can hear that there's quite a big loss of high end right in the frequency range that cuts through when playing with a drummer. You can compensate using the treble and presence knobs on the amp, but if you turn the gate off for swells and cleans like I do there isn't really a way to make it work.

Noticed it with my own NS-2 a little while back so I bought a cheap momentary mute pedal and am doing all my gating manually until I can find somebody to mod the gate.

the duct tape keeping that cable together says allot about you and noise gates..are cables that much more expensive then a gate pedal now days?

Thanks for this video! The 4 cable method works so much better than what I was doing with 2 cables. I read about the 4 cable method but wanted a video demonstration and yours was exactly what I needed. Thanks dude! 🤘🏻

I just love the fact that he's rockin a Msrshall. Seems like everyone else uses Fenders for demo's.

I’ve tried every which was hooking this up. I like to run my boost section in the loop of the ns2 and run it into the front of the amp rather than the effects return. I had a hard time getting a natural expansion connected the way you describe. Running to the front of the amp sounds way more natural in my rig.
Be aware as well, per boss’s tech support, some amps and pedals don’t play well with the buffered loop in the NS2 which produces the squeal many experience running the heads preamp through the ns2 loop especially with additional gain stages.

and where go the pedals? The modulation pedals as reverb and delay generally go in the send return and the overdrive and fuzz in front. But where in this case?

Dude . life saver!!! I was getting ready to return my pedal. Im not worthy!

Still my favourite noise gate/suppression pedal after 20 plus years of use. I’ve tried every noise gate out there and the NS2 has the most natural decay out of all them... for me!
Anybody who says they get tone suck are usually the same people that throw a cheap overdrive pedal in front of an amp to make it sound better... 🤔
Yeah, some gates maybe a hair quicker these days but for my money the NS2 is the most natural.
All down to personal preferences but the X patter is the way to go with a bit of patience to dial it in.
Trouble is people don’t have the patience with more the one knob!

I’ve had the isp for years. I need this pedal.

Yep, this is the way to do it. The pedal has its level detector between Input and Send, and the gate/expander is applied between the Return and Output. Therefore you want the noisy parts of your signal chain (distortion pedals, guitar preamp, etc.) in the NS-2's loop. Non-noisy FX can go after the NS-2's Output.

I cant thank you enough for making the sustain test! Big nut.
Very nice review! Answered all my questions

Hey. What about using effect pedals with this NS-2. Dirt and Mod boxes? And How do THEY work with the NS-2 WITH an FX loop in the Whoa!!!

This may be a stupid question but will this work to help with Semi hollow feedback in a live - high gain type of setting?

Good demonstration! Just curious if the Behringer Noise Suppressor would be good alternative because I’ve got 2 of them

Hi, I have a Fuzz, a Distortion, an Overdrive, a Chorus, a Wah, and a Looper, and my amplifier only has one input. Where should I place NS2?

Awesome video. I’m still trying to understand. So is it working like a Zuul? I’m about to read some manuals lol

I really like mine. They're great. Even just guitar in then out to amp is brilliant. Zero hum from the 100 watt Marshall, including when I'm going through a load box, with the Marshall on 8, surrounded by other devices.
