I am currently pursing a biochemistry degree and a business minor, planning to work in the biotech/pharma industry, was super excited to see this video!

I was a biochemistry major (and music history/musicology major).

I somehow found myself in biopharmaceutical manufacturing, and am currently a shift lead. I feel like I'm a scientist by education, and engineer by trade, and it's not bad!

My study track in college was gearing towards health professions (thinking pre-pharmacy or pre-med) and took all those physio/anatomy/pharmacology/chem, o-chem, etc. and loved all of those as well!

Actually, biochemistry degree are pretty tough considering the wide rage of classes required, p-chem, biochem and o-chem classes being among the toughest classes.

I'm a PhD student studying Biochemistry. Particularly, structural biology, and RNA. Although I enjoyed organic chemistry, I personally believe Biochemistry is much more practical in industry.

As someone who got a biochemistry BS and currently work in industry I would have to strongly disagree with your statement about only needing a bachelors. There is a very firm industry ceiling for a bachelors holder (even a masters, 2 years industry experience = same as a masters degree) and a Ph.D. Is required for all upper level positions

Ahh I’ve been waiting for this one, this degree is honestly prob a lot better than most of the other natural science degrees, and also I believe it makes for a very good pre-Medical degree

Great video as always. Could you do all degrees summarized in like about 1 or 2 sentences?

Graduating with a biochem BSc I rate salary 3, meaning 9, satisfaction 4 to 8 depending on the place. I work at a CRO that abused my lack of experience to shaft me on pay, but I work testing COVID vaccines and like my coworkers, and it's relatively easy job compared to the schooling, but can be stressful sometimes if mismanaged. Overall there's probably easier ways to make it financially in this world, but the world really needs biochemists right now

Great video Shane! I want to say your editing has gotten really good over the past year and you still bring lots of value. You are the goat haha. Another thing I want to mention is I saw that becoming a perfusionist is in higher demand now. That could be something interesting to look into, another healthcare career that many people probably don't know about.

This was a very thoughtful and accurate analysis of being a biochemistry, major which I was. I did get my Master's degree and have had a ~25 year career in the pharmaceutical industry, where I am currently a SVP at at CRO.

Shane Can you do a video like this about Biology just so we can compare and see the differences in each of the aspects. We would appreciate it.
