I've seen too many students switch out of biochemistry because its not what they thought it was. It was "too much chemistry"...So I just want to make sure you are aware of this before you chose to major in biochemistry :)

Biochem is purely a branch of biology not chemistry... Biochemists should not have a high knowledge on chemistry.... Here you are going to learn chemistry of Molecular level study of biology....

I’m a third year biochem student and though I am happy with my course selection and distribution, I can agree that biochemistry is more chemistry than biology. I regret not majoring in molecular biology, but luckily a major in either can be applied to the field in research.

Have you ever noticed that most Nobel laureates these days mainly in Biology and Chemistry are Mathematicians and Compiter Scientists? Why do you think that is? Because mathematics is the most fundamental form of science, all sciences can be explained by it, and, engineering is applied math and applied Physics, Physics is math and imagination and experimentation, chemistry is applied Physics and biology is applied chemistry. Think about that.

I’m addicted to chemistry but the heavy mathematics part really made me struggle..I’m majoring in pure chemistry now and I’ll just change it..I love physics too it’s a shame calculus kept getting worse and worse…the more I believe I got used to it..the second maths on the list ruin everything…

And to my surprise I did lots of stat courses…I’m burned out that even the foundational subjects of chemistry are a lot to do next to calculus in the same semester..

So whatever biochemistry is..give me that thank you ❤

Here’s a better explanation of biochemistry, biology teaches the mechanics of living organisms and biochemistry teaches the mechanics behind the mechanics down to an atomic level
