Having trouble staying awake when you need to get work done?
Feel like taking a nap but end up passing out?
Don’t worry, we’ve all been there.

In order to keep up with our increasingly fast paced society, teens should be getting on average 8 to 10 hours of sleep a night while adults should be sleeping around 7 to 9 hours. However, most people aren’t getting nearly enough sleep.

The most common go-to when we feel tired is downing cups of coffee, redbull or other energy drinks, anything to help us stay awake in the moment. But this can lead to huge health problems down the road if we consume too much caffeine -- such as dehydration, headaches, nausea, and tremors. The effects of caffeine also wear off after several hours, in some cases, leaving you more tired than you were before.

But there are so many better ways to stay up than drowning yourself in caffeine until your blood turns into coffee!

Tips to Staying awake:

Exercise! Not only does exercise improve quality of sleep, but studies show that exercising is also more effective in energizing the body than some sleep medications.
Rather than eating sugary snacks that can eventually lead to a “sugar crash”, stock up on snacks high in protein.
Even better than eating snacks or protein bars, moving around and making conversation with other people also helps your mind stay active and focused. Avoid staying in one place or sitting in one position for too long in order to keep your blood pumping!
Just can’t resist the lure of sleeping? Taking a 5-25 min nap can help prevent fatigue, enhance alertness, and retain memories. You also feel refreshed after waking up. Just make sure you set alarms so you don’t oversleep!
Finally, staying hydrated is extremely important because dehydration can lead to fatigue, confusion, and fainting. Made of 60% water, our bodies use H2O to transport nutrients to all parts of our body.

It’s important to remember these methods aren’t a cure-all for not getting enough sleep. The best way to not feel tired during the day is to get the proper amount of sleep at night! I work 12 hour graveyard shifts.
To get through a shift on almost no sleep you need to:
Walk around consistently.
Listen to music or watch videos.
Turn the heat off and the air conditioning on.
20 push-ups and 20 sit-ups every few hours to wake up the body.
Drink energy drinks, coffee, or both.

Im getting 4 hours of sleep today and Im in seventh grade :(

updates:
guys i keep getting replies to this so im giving a mini update, i already graduated high school & my sleep & study habits improved immensely (i was an extreme procrastinator) bcs i realized that not matter how much hwk, not sleeping enough was usually never worth it. it sometimes even resulted in performing worse on tests, not understanding lessons, becoming unproductive the whole day, being in a bad mood, etc

i know it's not realistic to expect urself to sleep enough every single day, but advice to anyone who may need it, alwayss try ur best to sleep as much as possible every day & organize ur day in terms of sleeping enough!! make sleeping a priority & a necessity in ur day schedule. try to make the most out of every day by incorporating breaks & naps as well! avoid coffee past 1pm & overnapping. we truly work, learn & problem-solve our best with enough sleep <3
i know it's not easy breaking habits and creating new ones, so good if u fail one day, dont beat urself up, sleep more the next day & try again

I normally wash my face to stay awake and drink cold drinks like slurpies I usually do homework or do activities I like while watching some videos on youtube and sometimes I went to play some games because it normally makes me hyped 💗

That's not true everybody is different some people only need 6 hours of sleep and can feel refreshed kinda rare but it all depends on your body. There are no certain amount of sleep everyone needs because it's different for everyone.

I am working on a story and I am an night thinker I don't have time at day time tho (u know.... online classes, break, dance, singing, rapping, sport, study and social) I wanna stay up at night to write my story. Thank I hope this helps me 😊💜🙂

Here how I dont sleep as a student:
Listen to rap music
Give your self a 5 minute break everytime you for for 15 minutes
Turn on Air Conditioning
Dring Chicken Broth, Energy Drinks, or Coffee
Eat protien Bars
Stay hydrated
Wash you face with Cold Water Every 30 minutes

Nowadays I randomly fall asleep when I get back from school and normally that doesn’t happen to me. I have been trying to snap out of it for a while but hopefully this helps
