Letting the sandwich sit for a while before eating helps too. It gives the flavors a chance to mingle.

Bread bread bread bread bread. The bread is SO important. Most places treat bread as a "vehicle" for the other ingredients, the bread should be high quality and fresh. It makes ALL the difference.

Spot on pal. But don’t forget the importance of quality bread for lubability, texture, and rollability. Shredded lettuce is also vital

Salting my tomatoes was a game changer, also adding pepper and salt to the avacado slices was amazing

"Always lubricate" That's the second time I've received that piece of advice.

90% of the reason anything from a restaurant hits more than what you make at home is that they don’t care if it’s healthy or not. When you make it, you hold back on oil, Mayo, butter, etc. The restaurant gives two shits about your health, they want you coming back for more!

I would say bread selection is the most important. If you will happily eat the bread on its own, you know that sandwich gonna be a banger regardless of what you put in it (most of the time anyways)

Deli worker here! Wanna know our secret? Butter. Always butter your pan or anything you use to heat or even toast your bread.

I work at Subway, and it's very true. ALSO:
Splurge a little on fresh ingredients and wash your vegetables. You can get the veggies you want, usually in bulk, for cheaper than an out sandwich.
Furthermore, don't be afraid to make your own sauce or grab some from a sandwich or deli shop.
Our Garlic aioli is honestly one of the best sauces I've ever tried.
Also know that if you mess up, it's not the end of that sandwich, don't be afraid to be creative.

You take shredded lettuce and combine it with mayo. Dont make a slaw, but get it to the point there are very few loose lettuce pieces. Then slather on marble rye bread evenly. Add fresh tomato slices w/salt n pepper. Then add bacon. Lots of it. Then another slice of bread with shredded lettuce/mayo combo. Stack two sandwhiches together, wrap it in paper, and slice. Tastes just like a deli
