“Look how they massacred my boy” always breaks me. He wasn’t a Don at that moment, he was just a father.

He says he “didn’t tell Mama anything” truly a part of the family

Sonny died standing. Dead before he hit the ground. Thank you James Caan, for bringing this character to life on the screen. RIP

It's so sweet how Vito comforts Tom. Sonny helped Tom out when he was just a child and had a terrible eye infection. They weren't related by blood, but were absolutely family and all loved each other.

I can't get over Tom Hagen's grief that shows in his eyes, facial expression and voice. He truly loved Sonny. His reaction impacted the scene and made it feel more tragic, since now Tom shows an emotional suffering other than being a calculating lawyer.

The attack on Vito weakened him, but Sonny's death destroyed him. He doesn't even want to go to war anymore.

“I WANT NO ACTS OF VENGEANCE”

what a very powerful line from a man who just wants peace for his family 👌❤️👍

The heart broken reaction in vito's face wen he sees his boy like that... He just died inside in those 5

Even in such a sad scene, I love how Vito carries himself, and throughout this film. He moves and speaks so slowly, like he doesn't see it necessary to do anything faster than that. It's because he's the king of New York and nothing happens without his word

It's called a tactical retreat. I love how, despite the intense pain and desire for vengeance, he kept his wits and looked at the big picture and knew that this wasn't the time, particularly knowing that the other families would be looking and likely ready for it.

It says in the novel something to this effect: "Even the weakest man, if maintains his courage and keeps his eyes open, can take his revenge on the most powerful."

This the Corleone General did.

Sonny might have given Don Vito many Headaches and Facepalms but at the end of the day? That’s still His Boy😢😢😢😢

I think Don Corleone was the example of a father who became a mobster rather than a mobster who became a father.

Brando's reaction is perfection. At first I thought, "Why is he making decisions so quick after hearing that news? Seems a bit too scripted" BUT then you realise in the phrase that follows. It had been building up. And it's like he knew this was going to happen. "This war stops now". Goosebumps

I love how Vito consoles Tom. He's also his son.

The way he looked at sonny's dead body. Wow. What amazing acting by Marlon Brando. I always said he was born to play the godfather. What a scene. Holy shit.

I actually can't describe how i feel about this movie and especially brando's scenes...
The script, the acting, the camera movement, the music, the lighting everything fits well together like crazy
And when brando appears, i have these feelings of intimidation, admiration and joy

Brilliant acting from Marlon Brando and Robert Duvall! The Godfather trilogy does teach you a lot of things that you can learn about business, professionalism, etc.
