Notice when Vito asks, "Do I have your loyalty?" Clemenzo immediately says, "Yes, always Godfather" while Tessio doesn't respond.

Michaels ultimate flaw and what led to his collapse was the fact he didn’t know how to lead people emotionally. Vito was better at connecting with others.

This is the scene that foreshadows Tessio's betrayal. Notice Tessio's statement that with the Corleone's gone "he and Clemenza will come under Barzini's thumb sooner or later." It is clear that Tessio sees Barzini's takeover as inevitable. Yet, Clemenza responds to that notion with disgust and states that he "hates that goddamn Barzini." I've watched this movie countless times in the last 20+ years and I just noticed this subtlety only recently.

It never ceases to amaze me that Coppola had to fight hard for Pacino to be cast as Michael. I really can't imagine anyone else in this role.

He became Don.
He became Godfather after the baptism, when Neri closed the door to Kay

I like how Vito drew attention away from Michael in order to be more delicate with Tom.

When Michael loosened his tie roughly, I felt that! He started to feel the intense pressure of the responsibility of being Don

Just watching the difference between Clemenza and Tessio's body language towards Vito is telling who's the traitor. Notice how Tessio shakes Michael's hand, while Clemenza went all the way around to shake Vito's hand as he left. Tessio never gave Vito respect now that he stepped down as Don.

I loved brando’s acting! Is supreme! I liked how he emotionally conects with everyone, leads through being close to people (unlike mike whos way was colder and tougher than vito’s). Superb acting by Brando totally deserved the Oscar such a talent

Tom looks and sounds so much like Fredo when he says, "Maybe I could help, " and Michael's cold, "You're out, Tom, " adds to the gravitas of this scene.

Notice that upon leaving the room Tessio gives his left hand to Michael, without loooking him in his eyes. And Michael takes a couple of seconds before giving his right

Don was only about 62 or 63 yro here. His lifestyle aged him greatly.

at 1:57, as Carlos is getting up to leave, Michael gives Neri a look. Subtle, especially on a small screen, but noticeable.

Note that when Michael says "You're out Tom", Vito is not really satisfied with the harsh way Michael is handling that decision with Tom, when he was actually reasoning with him. Yet, he does not says a word to Michael.

If Vito is an expert in something, is to keep his family tight. He was fantastic as a Don, but he would be even more important as Michael's Consiglieri.

Vito Corleone is still one of the best aging effects i've ever seen in movies. he was just 47 here and looks 2 decades older.

Notice when Don Corleone asks Tessio and Clemenza if they have his loyalty, only Clemenza answers yes whereas Tessio remains silent.

this scene has always reminded me of the scene that appears in "the godfather 2" when Tessio and Clemenza argue and Vito just distributes the dishes on the table. a new order begins...
