I’ve been practicing Arnis for 15 years and I have 2 blackbelts but it’s not the deadliest art out there. The deadliest art is probably the individual that has a good background in striking, grappling and weapons work.

Please teach him the correct history. Bladed weapons are not illegal before the Spaniards. It was banned after the Spaniards established a colony in the Philippines. Lapu lapu was not fighting using a big stick. The battle was recorded by Antonio Pigafetta, the Chronicler of Magellan, that Magellan was wounded by a bamboo spear and then cut down by a huge swords similar to European cutlass but only BIGGER. He also wrote that the Spaniards are surprised how efficient the natives are when it comes to blade fighting. He admitted that without their guns, the Spanish swords doesn't stand a chance against the native fighter's blade.
