India unveils world's tallest statue

The £314m Statue of Unity, an effigy of the independence hero Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, stands at 182 metres, making it nearly twice the height of New York’s Statue of Liberty. Built in Gujarat, it is part of the ruling Hindu nationalist party’s efforts to rebrand what it calls ‘forgotten’ leaders

This is to non- Indians: Come out of your ignorance. India is not living on western alms. We didn't ask you to come to India to build churches in the guise of starting schools and hospitals. If you think that the money used to build SoU is wasted, then you need to change your economics teacher. More than half of the money went to construction workers, rest of the money went to engineers and suppliers. It shows the world that India has great engineering skills. It encourages foreign companies to recruit more Indians. The SoU now promotes tourism that will create jobs to locals. There are some protests fuelled by left wing ignorant economists who instill the fear in locals that their land will be lost. Statue is on the river and in no way can the statue grab the land. If you don't sell the land, no one can take your land. In fact your land gets more value as it will become tourism hub. We are investing in right things. And finally, WE HAVE TOILETS. You can happily dump all that you had yesterday. But please don't steal the toilet paper from our hotels only to complain later that there was no toilet paper.

Those who comments about toilet & Poverty have no knowledge about the current Situation .. According to the 2018 UN statistics China have more open defecation problem than India .. 5% people in India have no toilet & 6% people in China have no toilet & there are many Asian & African countries which have open defecation till 70% .. India is very rapidly taking action on this issue & i can guarantee till 2019, we will totally get rid of open defecation .. Modi is doing amazing on Sanitation .. Second thing, India is the fastest growing economy in the world with a rate of 8.2% ( Highest in the World ) & Poverty is reducing rapidly .. Recently, UN praise modi on the Environment issue, Sanitation & Poor upliftment .. Lastly, IMF is already predicted that India will be superpower in next 50 yrs .. May be till 2030 we will be the third largest economy in the world ..

Many mega projects are coming such as GIFT city, ISRO Gaganyaan mission, High speed rail along with the development of indigenous weapons such as aircraft carriers, submarines, warships, fifth generation fighter aircrafts. India is also keen on becoming manufacturing hub replacing China in next 20 years.
