India inaugurated the world’s tallest statue on Wednesday, October 31, with tight security in place due to an outcry by local groups over the high cost of the 182-metre (600-ft) sculpture of independence hero Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

The statue is almost twice the height of New York’s Statue of Liberty (which is 93 metres or 305.1 feet) and dwarfs Hong Kong’s Big Buddha (34 metres or 111.5 feet).

Support India from China, whatever this is a good thing for India. The belief in your country and your history is imperative for unity and stability.

A statue is not just a mix of concrete and metals, it is the embodiment of the values and beliefs that inspires the generations to come.

A guy looked at #StatueofUnity pic today and said I wonder how many people could have been fed for the money that useless statue costs.

I replied I am not sure, it fed a lot of families of labor who built it, it fed the people from factories who make the steel, it fed the people from factories who make the cement, it fed the architects, it fed the engineers, It will feed the restaurants /dhabas mushrooming nearby, it will feed the hotels where tourist will reside, it will feed the guide and most important it will feed the deprived Indian souls to be an agent of Unity for a nation vulnerable from thousands of self-interest groups.

That is the difference between capitalism and welfare mentality. When you buy something, you put money in people's pockets, and give them dignity for their skills. When you give someone something for nothing, you rob them of sustainable living.Time for India to recognize virtues of capitalism, honor celebrating icons and invest in heritage. - @Swipestra

To those who thinks why Iron was used to built this and not from any other material. Thats because its the statue of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, and he is called Iron Man coz of his determination and will power. He combined 200+ provinces to built one India, and worked for Common men.... Hence some part of iron was given as donations by the farmers in the form of old tools. Statue has a beautiful history.
What a great man Patel was.

In comment section I see foreigners commented on toilet issue but for their kind information as of 2018 latest report said that 95% Indians now use toilet and achieve 100% by early 2019

Why is no one talking about those 185 displaced families, most of whom were tribal people?
